2024 Jeep Avenger electric car price and specs

Jeep's first electric car is an MG ZS EV-rivalling, front-wheel-drive city SUV with about 400km of claimed driving range – but it is set to cost close to $60,000 drive-away.

  • 2024 Jeep Avenger pricing and specifications
  • First electric Jeep with 396km claimed driving range
  • Three models, but not all safety tech is standard
  • Priced from $53,990 before on-road costs

The 2024 Jeep Avenger electric SUV will be priced from $53,990 plus on-road costs when it arrives in Australian showrooms between October and December this year.

Designed and built in Europe – and only front-wheel drive – the Avenger is a four-metre-long city SUV sized similarly to a Toyota Yaris Cross or Mazda CX-3, and rivals the larger MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric and Renault Megane E-Tech.

Jeep Australia will offer three model grades priced from $53,990 plus on-road costs for the Longitude – stretching to $63,990 plus on-road costs for the top-of-the-range Summit.

The entry-level model is priced similarly to a base Hyundai Kona Electric, but is $2000 dearer than the most expensive BYD Atto 3 or MG ZS EV, which are larger cars with up to 530km of claimed driving range.

And it is not fitted with every safety feature available across the model range, as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are exclusive to the Limited and Summit grades.

Meanwhile the flagship Avenger is only $1410 cheaper than a Tesla Model Y ($65,400), which is larger, quicker, charges faster, and travels further on a charge.

The electric Jeep is built in Poland – alongside siblings from Fiat and Alfa Romeo – but it does not incur a 5 per cent import tariff locally as it falls under an exemption given to electric vehicles priced below the Luxury Car Tax threshold ($89,332).

Powering the Avenger is a single front electric motor developing 115kW/260Nm, matched with a 51kWh (usable capacity, or 54kWh gross) nickel-manganese-cobalt battery good for a 9.0-second 0-100km/h acceleration time.

Claimed driving range in European WLTP testing is 396km for the Longitude and Limited on 17-inch wheels, and 391km for the Summit on 18-inch wheels, with energy consumption of 15.6kWh/100km and 15.8kWh/100km respectively.

DC fast charging at up to 100kW allows for a 20 to 80 per cent recharge in a claimed 24 minutes.

An empty to full charge takes a claimed seven hours and 58 minutes at 7kW in the Longitude, or five hours and 34 minutes at 11kW in the Limited and Summit.

Jeep claims a 10.5-metre turning circle, 200mm ground clearance, 20-degree approach angle, and 32-degree departure angle. All-wheel drive is not available.

Standard features in the Longitude include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, 7.0-inch instrument display, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, six-speaker stereo, cloth seats, rear parking sensors, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist.

The Limited adds features including cloth and synthetic leather-look trim, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane centring assist, satellite navigation, front and side parking sensors, a power tailgate, and keyless entry.

Meanwhile the flagship Summit adds 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, leather trim, projector LED headlights, LED tail-lights, and more.

The 2024 Jeep Avenger is available to pre-order now.
