  • Touring variant adds ventilated seats and more
  • Priced from $40,690 before on-road costs

Australian price and specification details of the 2022 Subaru Outback have been announced, revealing a new special-edition variant, new features and price rises across the range.

New for the 2022 Outback range – due in showrooms in the first quarter of 2022 (January to March) – is the AWD Premium Special Edition grade, adding a selection of features to Subaru's most affordable Outback AWD, priced from $44,190 before on-road costs.

Additional features comprise black nappa leather-accented upholstery, heated front seats and outboard rear seats, satellite navigation, and a hands-free power tailgate.

The entire MY22 Outback range gains a new seatback pocket design and an available Sapphire Blue Pearl colour (replacing Dark Blue Pearl), while the entry-level Outback AWD adds black centre caps for its 18-inch wheels, and the range-topping AWD Touring gains ventilated front seats and an extending driver thigh support.

Despite the changes for most variants being minor, prices have risen by $700 before on-road costs for the Outback AWD and AWD Sport, or $1200 for the AWD Touring.

All models are powered by the same 2.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder 'boxer' petrol engine, developing 138kW and 245Nm, sent to all four wheels through a CVT automatic.

The 2022 Subaru Outback range will arrive in Australia in the first quarter of 2022 (January to March).
