  • Black styling, head-up display, two-tone leather added
  • Priced from $77,075 before on-road costs

The 2022 Lexus RX has gained a revitalised Crafted special edition, as the outgoing luxury SUV range enters its final year on sale.

Reviving the nameplate applied by Lexus to special editions in 2021 and earlier, the 2022 RX Crafted Edition can be had in five-seat, four-cylinder RX300 and V6 RX350 guises – and adds a number of black styling touches and extra features, for about $3000 more than the Luxury variants they're based on.

On the outside, the RX Crafted Editions gain a black inner grille, bumper accents and mirror caps, 20-inch black wheels with F Sport wheel caps, and courtesy lighting.

Inside, both variants gain a head-up display, leather-accented upholstery in black and White Ash, and black open-pore walnut-look ornamentation (console, doors and steering wheel)

The RX350 Crafted Edition exclusively adds a sunroof, while the RX300 Crafted scores heated and ventilated front seats, and an easy access driver's seat with "return" and memory – features already standard on the Crafted's donor, the RX350 Luxury.

The RX Crafted Editions score three-year subscriptions to the Encore Platinum ownership package, which offers perks including complimentary valet parking in certain Westfield shopping centres (or Chadstone), and Lexus On Demand, allowing owners to borrow another Lexus up to four times, for up to eight days at a time.

Available cars include (but are not limited to) the LC coupe, LS flagship sedan, LX full-size four-wheel-drive, the UX300e electric SUV, or NX450h+ plug-in hybrid medium SUV.

Carry-over features from both cars' donor variants include LED headlights, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, a leather steering wheel, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, and a broad suite of active safety technologies.

Powering the RX300 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 175kW and 350Nm to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the RX350 gains a 3.5-litre non-turbo petrol V6 developing 221kW and 370Nm in the five-seaters – or 216kW/358Nm in seven-seat RX L models, which aren't available with the Crafted Editions – paired to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

A total of 10 colours are available: Sonic Chrome, Sonic Iridium, Glacial Ecru, Khaki Metal, Sonic Quartz, Titanium, Onyx, Graphite Black, Vermillion and Deep Blue.

The 2022 Lexus RX Crafted Editions are on sale now.
