2022 Lexus LC update confirmed for Australia
Another update is on the way for the Lexus LC, bringing revised suspension and new personalisation options.
The 2022 Lexus LC coupe and convertible range has been treated to a model-year update in Japan – and it’s set for Australian showrooms.
Following a series of engineering upgrades in 2020, updates to Lexus' flagship two-door for 2022 centre around retuned suspension set-ups for LC500 and LC500h coupe models, with changes to the springs, anti-roll bars and dampers sharpening traction and steering response, and improving the ride quality.
Coupe models with rear-wheel steering and variable power steering systems have been “optimised” for improved stability and controllability. The available glass roof has been updated from clear to privacy glass, while 21-inch two-tone alloy wheels are now standard on entry-level models in Japan (though these items were already standard in Australia).
A new Sonic Iridium colour is available across the range, while the Terrane Khaki Mica Metallic hue previously exclusive to the convertible can now be had with the coupe body style.
Available for convertible buyers is a new Blue and White interior colour scheme, joining a new blue soft-top roof option.
Other highlights include an upgraded Nanoe X cabin air filtration system, and the option of orange brake calipers across the range.
No changes have been made to the powertrains, which comprise a 351kW/540Nm 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol V8 in the standard LC500 coupe and convertible, or a 264kW 3.5-litre V6 hybrid system in the available LC500h coupe.
Lexus Australia has confirmed the 2022 Lexus LC range will benefit from a model-year update locally, though it’s not clear when it will arrive, or how many of the Japanese-market updates it will encompass.
“Lexus Australia can confirm the LC Coupe and Convertible will receive a model year update, and we will confirm timing and specifications applicable to our market in due course,” a spokesperson for the brand told Drive.
With Japanese sales set to commence this November, expect to hear more about the updated Lexus LC for Australia within the coming months.
