2022 Kia Sorento gains new Kia logo, here in September/October 2021
Kia's seven-seat family SUV gains its maker's new logo in South Korea, with first Australian arrivals due later this year.
The 2022 Kia Sorento has gone on sale in Korea wearing the company's latest branding, ahead of an Australian launch in September or October 2021.
The large Sorento SUV is the latest Kia model to gain the Korean brand's new logo – revealed back in January – in its home market, following the Niro, Cerato (K3), Picanto, K5, K8, and K9.
When the Model Year 2022 (MY22) Sorento hits Australian roads in September or October 2021, it'll be the (tied) seventh vehicle to adopt the emblem locally, with the rollout kicked off by the facelifted Cerato small car launched in early June.
The Seltos, Stonic and Rio all adopted the logo for their MY22 updates in late June, with the Picanto and Niro to follow in August, and the Sorento, Carnival and Stinger all slated to gain the branding from September or October 2021. The new-generation Sportage will complete the transition when it arrives in October or November.
While it's not expected any changes will be made to the Australian range alongside the new logo, Korean Sorento buyers can not opt for a new 'Gravity' variant, which adds unique leather seat trim, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and gloss black finishes for the grille, window surrounds, roof rails, and front door garnish.
It's possible these items could be added to Australian-delivered Sorento models as part of a limited-run 'Black Edition' – a card Kia Australia drew late in the previous Sorento's life cycle, when it introduced a Black Edition variant in late 2019 to stimulate slowing sales in the lead-up to the new model's arrival.
Pricing will be announced closer to the 2022 Kia Sorento's Australian launch this September or October, though prices aren't expected to differ from those of the current range, which spans from $49,290 drive-away for the entry-level S petrol, to $67,290 drive-away for the flagship GT-Line diesel.
