2022 Isuzu new models

With the new Isuzu D-Max and new Isuzu MU-X now well entrenched on the Australian market, there’s nothing massive happening in 2022 for Isuzu. Vehicles like dual cabs – and the 4WDs to which they are related – tend to have a long life cycle.

There will probably be the usual tweaks to drive-away or list prices though, and depending on how you read the tea leaves – and which variants you focus on (more details here) – that could be big news. Recent changes to pricing have been covered in depth on Drive.

However, there will still be an addition to the burgeoning D-Max range from early January 2022, with the Single Cab Chassis 1.9 4x2 filling out the affordable 'tradie' end of the D-Max range. On paper, a 1.9-litre engine might seem like small for the performance fans among us, but other manufacturers have gone with similarly small engines for utes more focused on worksite chores than towing or off-road work.

According to Isuzu, the new 'RZ4E-TC' 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine provides a fuel-efficient option, is refined and quiet. Tradies who spend long days behind the wheel will likely appreciate those attributes.

The 1.9-litre engine generates 110kW and 350Nm, and will be available for $29,990 drive-away from launch with the six-speed manual – assuming the drive-away deal from the previous entry model, the 3.0-litre SX, which has received a significant price rise.

There will also be a six-speed automatic available. The manual gets a 2800kg braked tow rating, while the auto steps that up to 3000kg braked, making for a useful dual-purpose worksite/tow ute.
