2022 Honda Civic on sale in Australia within weeks

Honda's 11th-generation small car will arrive by the end of the year, with new styling and technology – but a likely price rise to match.

The first examples of the 2022 Honda Civic have arrived in Australia, ahead of its official on-sale launch by the end of 2021.

A "small initial lot" of new Civic examples docked on local soil last week, according to Honda Australia, ahead of additional shipments of vehicles over the coming weeks, before officially going on sale by the end of the year (likely December, according to Honda showrooms surveyed by Drive).

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, however with Honda Australia known to be prioritising higher-specification variants following its switch to an agency model in July, list figures are expected to rise over the $31,000 to $39,600 drive-away of the outgoing model.

Revealed globally in June, government documents have revealed that a 131kW 1.5-litre turbo engine will be standard in Australia – spelling the end of the ageing, entry-level 1.8-litre non-turbo four-cylinder – joined by a CVT automatic and 18-inch alloy wheels across all variants.

Available technologies in overseas models include a 9.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, leather seats, and a full suite of active safety technologies.

The 2022 Honda Civic will go on sale in Australia by the end of 2021, the brand has confirmed. Australia-bound Civic models will be built in Japan, rather than Thailand, as per the previous model.
