Australian pricing and specifications for the 2021 Audi Q5 Sportback have been revealed, ahead of first customer deliveries in August.
Following the return of the diesel-powered SQ5 late last year – and the arrival of an updated version in early 2021 – Audi's popular performance mid-size has spawned a new coupe-styled Sportback variant, with a sloping roofline and a 510-litre boot (10 litres less than its regular counterpart).
Priced from $110,900 before on-road costs – $6000 more than the standard SQ5 – the SQ5 Sportback TDI is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, sending 251kW and 700Nm to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Audi claims a 5.1-second sprint from zero to 100km/h, towards an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h. Combined fuel economy is rated at 7.1L/100km.
The SQ5 Sportback sits 30mm closer to the tarmac than the standard Q5 Sportback, with the driving experience aided by adaptive S sport suspension, a variable all-wheel-drive system (capable of sending up to 85 per cent of power to the rear), and a sports exhaust system.
Standard equipment includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen with smartphone mirroring and satellite navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, fine nappa leather sports seats, wireless phone charging, tri-zone climate control, matrix LED headlights, 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, 21-inch alloy wheels, and a hands-free power tailgate.
Standard driver assistance features include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, high-beam assist, semi-automated parking, and an exit warning system.
Over the lesser Q5 Sportback 45 TFSI S Line, the SQ5 adds adaptive dampers, 21-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, the aforementioned 19-speaker sound system, a head-up display, colour ambient lighting package, and privacy glass.
An array of standalone options are available, a handful of which are detailed at the bottom of this story.
