2018 Mercedes-Maybach Pullman refreshed

Top-of-the-line luxury goes further upmarket

Like the market price of lobster, if you have to ask how much you probably can't afford it.

Updated to reflect the most recent changes and additions of the 2018 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class range, the 6500mm-long limousine named after the luxurious railway carriages before it is the epitome of exclusivity on the road.

Having carried royalty such as Queen Elizabeth II and the Pope, and racketeers such as Octopussy’s Kamal Khan, the Pullman offers absolute luxury and room to snooze.

Available in either VIP two-seat or opposing four-seat vis-à-vis arrangement, the updated rear compartment is available with new interior trims including magma grey, mahogany brown and silk beige over deep sea blue leather, with storage for champagne on ice and a plethora of options.

The VIP lounge removes the two back-facing seats for the ultimate in legroom and a partition between the front and rear occupants gives privacy. Back-seat drivers can also continue to chime in with live streaming video from front-mounted cameras.

New ‘2 cabin sound’ adds separate audio for the front and rear for the first time and the driver doesn’t miss out on all the fun with an upgraded version of the same 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 producing a meatier 463kW of power and 1000Nm of torque. Acceleration is some relatively quick 6.5 seconds to the ton from a standstill with a thirsty combined average fuel consumption of 14.6L/100km.

Outside, the Pullman has received a light facelift with new pinstripe suit-inspired grille and a range of fresh two-tone paint options over classic 10-hole 20-inch Maybach alloys.

Mercedes says “many governments, heads of state and royal families around the world have, for decades, chosen Mercedes-Benz saloon cars with the designation "Pullman" to travel in the stately style befitting their status.”

Australians don’t miss out either and can order their own Pullman which goes on-sale from March 15. We’re told the market price will be around $1 million, depending on the level of customisation, plus on-road costs.
