Korean giant-killer Kia has confirmed a New York Auto Show unveiling next month for the sedan version of its stylish new 2012 Rio. The news comes as part of a press event in the US this week.
In Australia, the current-generation Rio is offered in both hatch and sedan form - a theme that is likely to continue when the all-new Rio arrives later this year.
Speaking with TMR earlier this year, Kia Australia's Kevin Hepworth said that while the five-door hatch is a lock for Australia, the three-door hatch and four-door sedan are still "under consideration."
Full technical details for the Rio line-up have yet to be released, although Kia has confirmed that a full six petrol and diesel engines will be available internationally, from a 51kW 1.1 litre diesel engine through to a 103kW 1.6 litre GDI petrol engine.
An all-new 1.2 litre turbocharged GDI petrol engine will also be offered in a more sports-focused variant, although Australia specifications are still to be confirmed.
