2016 Mitsubishi Mirage Ls Review

Overall I am quite impressed by the new facelift Mirage. Yes the engine note intrudes a little when accelerating but in my opinion it is a characterful sound. I love the way the cvt works, keeping the revs as low as possible until you need more power, then increasing the revs only as high as necessary. Cruising along at 100 it is usually at about 2000 revs (depending on load). People call them a micro car, but it's actually about the same size or bigger than some other cars I have owned which weren't called micro cars (e.g. Merc A160 & VW Golf GTI). It's certainly bigger than my 1982 Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo - maybe not quite as much fun though;) There's always room for improvement however, I would like a reversing camera, and cruise control to make it ideal. For some reason that's not available (at least not here in New Zealand) I suppose the powers that be have decided it's just a city car. That's a shame really because it seems reasonably capable of cross country jaunts to me. As for interior space, I consider it a 2 - 3 seater if you're going on a trip and want enough luggage space, but if you're not taking much then it would comfortably fit four adults. Five (if three were small) is also doable. I like the look of the car from the front and from the side, I am not as fond of the rear view which seems to me a typical micro car look, even though as I mentioned before I don't consider it one. In conclusion it's a nice car that is generally liked by those who have actually driven one.

I was lucky enough to be purchased a car for me and this was the choice, and I think it really was the best choice out of all the possibilities fitting my mothers price range. It is loaded with features that make your day more enjoyable and make driving a breeze. As a newbie P-Plater to the road it is nice to feel safe in a car that has a five star ancap safety rating. I also like the brake assist feature which slows the car the down dramatically even though your not touching the brake. The materials in the car are suprisingly good, yet there are platstics throw out the cabin. The backseat is the most spacious I have ever experienced and it is perfect for carrying friends and family. The voice recognition is a suprising feature to find on this car and is handy when driving. The Bluetooth is good and speakers extremely clear. The trip computer is a fantastic tool. I tested the fuel economy but setting my trip computer after refuelling. I was surprised to see I was able to travel 474km with the air con always on. Speaking of air con it is really good and cools the cabin quickly, even when it is on the lowest setting. I like the steering wheel controls which are handy to use. The auto down electric window is also a convient feature, espically when driving. The silver paint is fantastic and the like the chrome accents that are spread all over the place. I was also surprised to see alloy wheels which where standard with this car. All in all it is a perfect first car. Even though it has a 1.2 litre engine it handles extremely well and I was even able to beat a ford falcon off the mark, which embarrassed them completely! So nicki mirage does surprised and really does have a little anaconda in her!!

Saying the 1.2L three cylinder engine has power is pushing the boundaries of credulity.
