2018 Hyundai Elantra SR Turbo: owner review
Owner Review | 4 Jun 2022
I wanted a sporty sedan without the pretence of it being a hot super sedan in the veins of the AMG or M-series production models.Owner: John Liew
2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS review
Owner Review | 29 Oct 2018
I purchased my Elantra second hand in 2015 it had two previous owners. My car had additional extras from the previous owner including a new CD Radio, tinted windows and tow bar. The most impressive aspect of this car is that it is entirely free of any rust and the paint work is still high lustre and blemish free. The interior is as good as new, the only parts that have broken is the vanity mirror falling out of the sunvisor and the digital clock failing. The door handles and locks have never failed. This vehicle is extremely versatile, it carries 4 passengers with comfort. The rear seat fold flat for taking lugguage and the hatch makes for easy access. The hatch is so useful for carrying cargo I would only ever consider buying hatches. The seats are firm and provide good support and adjustment, some people may find them too hard, and I sometimes use a cushion for extra lumbar support. One feature this car which is not found on modern cars is protective strips along the side which protects the doors from annoying carpark dents and scratches. The engine is strong and reliable, it can tow a trailer up hills without straining and has enough power to overtake on the highway easily. The built quality of Hyundais is excellent, I have owned over 25 cars in my life, both imported and locally built. I was highly impressed with Hyundai and will only buy cars now from this maker. I would highly recommend this car. It is very economical to run, parts are easy to obtain and it is a reliable no fuss car. If you are looking for a car with modern features like sat nav or advanced safety options this may not be the car for you but you will have to spend at least $10 grand more. But for the money you will have excellent airconditioning, power streering, electric windows front and back, and central locking. My car has 4 speed automatic transmission and this still performs brialliantly and changes smoothly and reliably. The road holding of this car may not be as luxurious as modern cars but I have found for average driving conditions it holds the road very well, there are no sqeaks or rattles even though it is now about 15 years old. If you are looking for a great second car I recommend you look for a low milage example. I think you will find that any purchase with around 100,000 kms would provide excellent value for money. I have thought of updating several times but just don't want to part with this car, I am waiting for Hyundai would bring out another Elantra with a hatch option!
2005 Hyundai Elantra FX 2.0 HVT review
Owner Review | 5 Sep 2018
The 2005 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 FX hatchback has been our daily driver for the past 6 years. We bought it arriving back from london as a interim car before we bought a luxury leather seat (nice) car. It is a very reliable and easy to drive car and has now done 216,000km. Every time we go to buy a new car we just say the Hyundai Elantra will last another year and it does effortlessly. The 2.0 litre petrol engine is an excellent engine with no oil leaks and no smell. It has a good amount of power, internal space is very good and is quite sporty for a affordable Korean hatchback. The engine is probably the best thing about this car, it just feels like it will go on for ever. Fuel consumption is around 8.5L city driving with two kids in the back, and on the Highway its 6.5L which is great. Negatives are maybe like most modern cars is the lifespan of parts. The radio no longer works, either does the cruise control, tint has fallen off windows, inside vanity mirrors have fallen off. Ive changed the muffler, clutch, radiator, light bulbs, only as its done a lot of kms. Good thing is parts are cheap. No one is going to steal this car and you don't have to worry about bumps in the shopping centre. Overall its a very nice car and I would recommend it if you can find a low milage version. Boot space is very good and easy for bunnings visits. Safety would be a low point on this car as there's no modern safety equipment fitted, no Android auto, no stop start technology, backup camera, no rear usb hub for the kids or full sunroof. Visibility is very good along with road noise. its not the most beautiful car but it just works. Cars these days don't last that long but the engines do seem to go on for every. We do love this car but we are looking at Hyundai, Mazda and Honda for our next car adventure. We're just wondering what will be come of our beloved Elantra.

2017 Hyundai Elantra Elite 2.0 MPi review
Owner Review | 17 Apr 2018
I had a Ford Territory and always owned Australian made and now that I do not have that option and my lifestyle has changed I decided to go with what best suits my lifestyle and best value for my hard-earned dollar without breaking the bank. My partner purchased and I30 and I was impressed driving that but needed something bigger. I am 6ft 2” and wanted my new car to have some room and it needed to fit the golf clubs and buggy in the boot. As I mainly drive to and from work with some highway driving I needed performance, handling, comfort, economy and comfort without breaking the bank. I test drove the Elantra, Kia Cerato and the Honda Civic. I then looked at what warranty was on offer as well as capped price servicing cost and service intervals. The Honda was the better car but more expensive and in saying that I feel Honda’s warranty is misleading as they stated 7 years with 100,000 kms. I would do 25,000kms per year so that made it 4 years. Kia was more warranty and unlimited kms. I felt the Kia and Hyundai are basically the same car but I chose the Hyundai as it felt more refined and was quieter. I went the Elite rather than the SR Turbo. I love the keyless entry and push button start. The instrument cluster is plain but I am an older driver and I prefer gauges rather than digital display. The Radio Reception is pretty lousy as it has a rear windscreen antenna but with Apple Car play I run through radio apps and my music so that’s not an issue with me. No Sat Nav but once again with Apple Car play I run through Maps. I simply command Siri what I want so my eyes stay on the road. I have now clocked 7000 kms so far without an issue. My fuel use has gone from $100 per Week down to under $45 per week. I have travelled on various roads and the car handles really well. I am not driving like a racing car driver, I just hit bends at speed and feel the Elantra holding the road and the power is there if I need it. The boot fits 2 sets of clubs easily and if I need room for buggies I fold down the back seats. I don’t have rear passengers that often but if you are tall you will touch your head in the back seat. The Elantra will fit 4 large adults comfortably. Improvements would be less engine noise and an 8 speed Transmission. DAB Radio and Sat Navigation should be Standard. Without breaking the bank I am really happy.
