Alfa Romeo is hard at work putting the final touches to their all-new Mi.To (Milan<->Torino) hatch. Our computer graphic artists have put together a photoshopped image of what the Mi.To Convertible could look like.

Although there is no specific information regarding the topless variant, sources indicate that it will arrive 6-12 months after the standard car.
The Mi.To is based on the same platform as the Fiat Grande Punto and will be available with a variety of engines from an entry-level 1.4-litre unit to a 171kW turbo adaptation for the GTA.
Ateco (Alfa Romeo distributor) spokesman Edward Rowe told CarAdvice the Mi.To will arrive mid next year and should start from low to mid 30s. The car will sit below the 147 as the entry point to the Alfa range.
You can find spy photos of the Mi.To undergoing testing here. Official images here.

Although we’ve already seen leaked images of the Alfa Romeo Mi.To before, the Italian manufacturer is still keeping the covers on as it begins testing the car on public roads.

Our European photographers were ready as always and snapped up these photos near Alfa Romeo’s test centre. While Alfa has not set a foot wrong in terms of exterior designs in the last few years, it’s lacking a serious hothatch, which the Mi.To should deliver.

In case you’re interested, the Mi.To name comes from the shortcuts used for Milan (Mi) and Torino (To), the two hometowns of the manufacturer.

The Mi.To is expected in European dealers later in the year and will take on the lovable but aging MINI Cooper and the upcoming Audi A1.

While it’s based on the Fiat Grande Punto, the Mi.To will have some serious firepower. Petrol engines will range from 90kW to 170kW and they will join a range of diesel units.

Official images of Alfa Romeo’s answer to the Mini Cooper have found their way onto the web.

Widely known as the ‘Junior’, these images reveal the new car will carry the ‘Mi.To’ nameplate.

Using the same platform as the Fiat Grande Punto, it will be available with a variety of engines from an entry-level 1.4-litre unit to a 171kW turbo adaptation for the GTA.

The Alfa Romeo Mi.To is tipped to feature a 6-speed manual transmission as standard with an optional automatic.

One brand which we don’t cover greatly is Alfa Romeo. There is not all that much to talk about as Alfa tends to keep a low profile in the Australian market, but that might all change with the next-generation Alfa Romeo 149 - the successor to the 147.

Our European photographers snapped a mule undergoing winter testing. The car might look a little odd to you and that’s because it has a new front (possibly a hint of the Alfa 149 in there) but the rest of it resembles the current Fiat Ritmo (named Bravo everywhere else).
The 149 will go head to head with the likes of Volkswagen’s Golf. The car has an overall-length of 4.30 metres as it based on the same platform as the Fiat Ritmo.

Details are sketchy but the lineup is expected to come with a range of turbocharged petrol engines (89kW - 198kW). Of course there will be a V6 powered GTA variant as well.

Alfa Romeo has been criticised for making some of the world’s most beautiful cars powered by some of the world’s most god-awful engines, so here’s hoping the 149 will change all that.
