Can I charge my electric car at the airport?

Whether you're flying out on a trip or just picking up friends, it's handy to know whether you can charge your EV at Australia's major airports.

When EVs typically have a range of a few hundred kilometres, it's pretty unlikely that you're going to run low on a drive to the airport and back.

That said, if you're out of routine and skipped a regular charge, then it's possible you could find yourself in need of some juice. You might also need a top-up at the airport if you've left your EV in long-term parking while on an extended trip.

EVs shouldn't lose much charge while sitting idle for extended periods, especially if it's a new vehicle, but that can change due to several factors including the state of charge when the car is parked, the outdoor temperature and the age of the battery.

So if you do find yourself in need of a charge, what are your options at the different airports around Australia? It turns out many don't have EV charge stations in their onsite car parks, but options generally aren't far away.
