2008 BMW 1 Series Coupe range
BMW has just announced pricing for the upcoming arrival of the all-new 1 Series Coupé range at the Brisbane International Motor Show.
BMW initially unveiled the 135i Sport and then confirmed the line-up will also include a new 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine for the 125i, both of which will go on sale in May.
The 135i Sport is powered by the same 3.0-litre twin turbo straight-six engine found in the 335i and pumps out 225kW and 400Nm. BMW says the new engine will manage rapid fire acceleration and impressive economy as well as low emissions.
The 135i Sport will do the 0-100 km/h dash in just 5.3 seconds, with torque available from as low as 1,300 rpm all the way to 5,000 rpm, thanks to its twin-turbos.
If twin-turbos is not really your thing, the 1 Series Coupé model line-up will further include the 125i, which makes do with a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine that will make 160 kW of power and 270Nm of torque. The 125i will go from 0 to 100 km/h in a very respectable 6.4 seconds.
More details on the range will be available closer to the release date in May.

So will there be a 130i coupe to match the hatch range? it’s getting confusing when both 125i (160kW) and 135i (225kW) have 3.0 litre engines and there is also a 3.0 litre BMW engine which produces 195kW, and there is the 3.5 litre engine in the 325i that produces an identical 160kW (albeit 250Nm compared with the 3.0 litre’s 270Nm). If this is the case, BMW have obviously detuned the 3.0 motor to keep the 135i “safe”, but you’d feel a little like you’re getting the short end of the stick.
Not the first time BMW have detuned a motor to protect the top of the range engine though

Sorry that was meant to be “2.5″, not “3.5″ litre engine in the 325i

Hmmm, I’m a Mercedes man myself, but $70k for a 3.0TT coupé sure sounds good to me.

i know its a matter of personal taste, but frankly, the 1 series is one of the most ugliest cars on the road today

Have to agree S15NZ. The front and rear just don’t do it for me. The interior looks mint however, and I am sure the engines will be top notch. But WTF is with the rear on the 135i shot above?

Just read a UK test on the 123 twin turbo diesel. 0-100 in 6.1. I want one.

Really you want a diesel one……..hahaha ! Fancy that.
You can guess which one I do? Me like the blue too……..is that an individual colour….never seen it before?

I’ll take a 123d over the 135i any day.
BMW Australia, at least give us the choice – they already make RHD 123d vehicles for the UK… what’s the big deal?

Does the 125i comes with a sideskirts like 135? Whats the main difference of the 2 except for the engine?

I’m with Paul. Why no diesel in the line-up? The shape look promising but it’s off the short list if no diesel coming to Oz.

I personally love the new 135i styling. Its a matter of personal taste.I currently drive a 04 325ci which I have traded in on the 135iM Convertible with all the trimmings. The motor isnt detuned Godspeed.Get your facts correct of visit a BMW dealer for correct info. It is the same 3.0litre twin turbo that you find in the 335i.
