2011 Subaru Impreza XV Mizuno for Australia

By Tim Beissmann |

Subaru Australia has teamed with Japanese sports accessory brand Mizuno to create the special edition Subaru Impreza XV Mizuno, offering a limited edition colour and more than $3000 worth of extra features.

Available in ‘Paprika Red’, the XV Mizuno scores a Garmin satellite navigation system, roof cross bars and carrier system for surfboards and skis, cargo tray, carpet mats, bonnet and headlamp protectors and Mizuno badging.

All Impreza XV Mizuno models also come with a $500 voucher that can be used to redeem Mizuno premium running packs including two pairs of shoes, drink bottles, caps and bags.

Just 250 XV Mizuno models will go on sale in Australia in March.

Recommended driveaway pricing for the special edition Impreza is $29,990 for the five-speed manual and $31,990 for the four-speed automatic.

The standard high-riding Impreza XV was launched in Australia in June last year in an attempt to attract young buyers with active lifestyles.

It has been a long time since I drove a four-speed automatic, I think it was in a Toyota Avalon.

My 1987 Corolla had a 4speeder…. hmmm let me see that was 24! years ago….and it hard a carby…… but then Mercedes still put vinyl in their cars and try and palm it off as MB tex….. *Coughs*

  • Vince

I’d rather be seen in a Lada.

    • ST

But the Niva has this retro coolness to it too.

    • RickyC

I’d rather be seen in a Yugo.

  • Clarence

I really, really want to like these Imprezas but the current generation are just so frickin’ ugly.

  • Maximark

I bet they haven’t sold any of these since first launched.

  • Duckula

If it was a cattle dog you would take it up the back paddock and shoot it, cos of its ugliness… What are u doing Subaru…give it up already.

“The standard high-riding Impreza XV was launched in Australia in June last year in an attempt to attract young buyers with active lifestyles.”

How’s that working out for them? Not well I’m assuming.

    • Duckula

The only ‘active’ thing young people would be doing, was to run away from this thing as fast as possible…

  • CK

Lots of ugly plastic. Inside and out.

  • Aleks

    OMG KILL IT !

  • Dear

I like the exterior of the Impreza R Hatch but the interior is SO BAD. I went in it at the motor show and it was really plain and high up and weird…

  • Baddass

If I was to pick out one particular fail in this mess of a design, it would have to be that laughable rear spoiler. As far as I can see, all it manages to do is restrict rear vision, whilst looking tacked-on and cheap. Pointless car.

  • Blitzkrieg

I haven’t seen one on the road yet, perhaps they haven’t sold one ’cause they’re uuuugly.

  • Limesub

It’s funny all you haters raving on about Subaru not selling anything and yet 2010 was their biggest year ever in Australia!

Just goes to show looks are not everything!

    • Duckula

Limesub, if you bother to check sales figures, its not the imprezza thats increasing their sales, its pretty much all up to the Forrester and Liberty…. which, while no Mona Lisa’s themselves, they are far prettier than this thing….

      • Limesub

Actually you will find the Impreza has increased in sales and generally sells more more per month than any previous version (yes right back to ’94) so I still fail to see your point!

Perhaps you should do some checking?

  • Duckula

Oh and another thing, if you ACTUALLY READ any of the posts above, none of us have said that we thing Subaru’s are bad cars, I certainly don’t, we are simply commenting on the design, nothing to do with mechanicals/engineering of the car….

    • Limesub

And if you ‘read’ my post you should be able to understand my point – yes the Impreza ain’t pretty (I am in agreement with the other posts) but that has not stopped people buying them. How is this not ‘reading’ the other posts?

The same thing can be said about the Liberty, sells by the bucket load (for a Subaru) and well, is rather ‘Plain Jane’ to look at.

I have read your posts and they certainly do not seem to be critiques or comments on design as you state – just a comparison with a 1987 Corolla and running away cause they are so ugly… A lot of emotional vitriol with no critical understading… And then you ask me to ‘actually read’. Quite funny really!

As you have stated, engineering is the important aspect when buying a Subaru and if you really knew their history you would realise they where only seen by the public as OK to look at for period of around 10 years – the early ’90s to early ’00s

The rest of the time? Kinda frumpy and yes, ugly ducklings… The Subaru way… (Well at least until the new design language comes through – Witness the 2012 Impreza concept)

  • Blitzkrieg

I still don’t how the new liberty is selling as well as it has,yes it’s bigger than before but it has new flaws added,(hard cheaper looking interior plastics, shocking handbrake placement, and bland toyota camry sheetmetal).
I drive an 04 liberty but a certainly will never update to the new gen5 model.

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I think it looks great and it drives really well. Depends what you lot are comparing the XV to. I think the other subarus are box like. As for other cars on the road – well its all personal isnt it? I mean saying the golf is better looking???
