• MisterMister

I remember it took us 4 years to get the original Focus. It came out in Europe in 1998, but didn’t go on sale here until 2002. So we should expect this car in 2016.

    • CK

Yeah… I also wonder if we’ll ever read the headline ” Ford begins production of the turbo diesel Territory”.

Seriously, FFS, why has this taken them so long? Trees grow faster than this.

  • MahindraPikUp

I liked where Ford were going with their styling… unfortunately I feel they are losing their way a bit now.. That front bumper is hideous!

  • Samson

Should of built it here to supplement Falcon production.

  • fishman

    Why no wagon? Very foolish….

    • MisterMister

We never got the Focus wagon here in the past, why would we now? Even the US got the wagon on the 1st gen. model. I don’t think there was a 2nd gen wagon though.

      • fishman

Yeah, there’s a 2nd gen wagon in Europe, would have been on my shopping list here if available.

Ford Oz really do shoot themselves in the foot – Kuga, C-Max, and Focus wagon are all decent varients of this platform, but we never see them here. I understand the lower volumes arguement, but if Peugeot can bring and sell all their varients at small volumes, why on earth cant Ford?

And dont get me started on why the Mondeo here is missing out on the already available eco-boost engine just to protect Falcon sales….grrrrr

        • laurie

Fisherman totally agree re:Mondeo e.g. 2.2L Turbo Diesel missing from local lineup not to mention the upgrade touch scree head unit
          laurie

    • http://Fiesta Gan Tan

Agreed its very foolish. Hyundai have all but monopolised the budget small car wagon market

  • XR5man

I have mark 2 XR5 Turbo and cant wait for the new ST to come out, but i really hope that the next gen ST is still sourced from germany instead of thailand, ford woman wont comment of wether production will move to thailand but its pretty obvious it will….

  • Yonny

Will Australia get a properly built Focus – or is Ford Australia planning to continue its present policy of selling Focuses with crap build quality? We know how well that’s worked so far.

    • Hendrik

Once the Thai plant comes online the Focii delivered here should have some of the best build quality. Most Hondas are sourced from Thailand and they have some the best reliability and build quality.

    • birdie

We brought a new focus in 06 , & have had NO drama with it mechanically or in build quality what so ever. 4 years on & still going strong

      • Yonny

Lucky you. You must have got the one they built properly.

  • laurie

And would you believe there are people at Ford who get paid big money to make stupid decisions.FORD speak and listen to your customers you stuffed up the Mondeo what next after this!!

    laurie

  • hazchem

why is it called the 2012 focus when it starts production in 2010 and goes on sales in 2011?

    • Shak

It will be a 2012 model for us because it will go on sale in the latter half of 2011, which is actually the 2012 business year. In the US it doesnt make much sense as their financial year is their calendar year.

  • binladen

A bigger version of Fiesta will sell more than this one. Just like Polo and Golf. This one looks worse than Fiesta.

  • sammy

that back light is hideous…i doubt even the RS model can look any good with that aweful tail light…

    • birdie

Can’t please everyone all the time

  • Ben

It looks very nice.. All angles. Am looking forward to this one. Can you say, an even better Focus. Now, that is good. Mind you I love the Fiesta too.
