2012 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Series 51

By Brett Davis |

Bentley has released a new package for its Continental sedan, called the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Series 51. The package offers more exclusivity than the normal Flying Spur, with options allowing the customer to select bespoke details.

There’s a new range of trim levels which can be had in three different tones, and new exterior colour options including a two-tone range, as well as new nine-spoke 19 inch wheels finished in graphite texture.

Inside, there’s also a number of exclusive touches, such as a 30GB touch-screen sat-nav/multimedia interface, as well as an almost endless amount of options for wood veneer and leather, coordinated to provide an attractive contrast and personalised exclusivity.

Dirk van Braeckel, Bentley’s director of design, recently said,

“The Series 51 design concept is inspired by the spirit of the inaugural Bentley styling department in Crewe established by the gifted John Blatchley, who shaped the original and iconic 1950s Bentley Continentals. Today, it provides for a virtually bespoke ordering service due to the thousands of configurations available through Bentley’s expansive colour and trim catalogue.”

The new 2012 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Series 51 package is now available to order through your nearest Bentley dealer. The Series 51 package is also available on all new Flying Spur Speed and Supersports coupe and convertible models.

That interior is awful, bloody awful – but its true what they say – you can’t buy taste. But having said that….I’d still wouldnt say no if one was left in the driveway with a big ribbon on it… :)

I agree. Well, in the interests of not getting as many minus points as you copped, I’ll concede that the interior’s not offensive, it’s just a bit, well, unspecial. If you took the badge off the wheel, the only think that would make you feel “yeah, I think I’m in a Bentley” is maybe the quilted trim. Maybe it smells nice too.

    “…there’s also a number of exclusive touches, such as a 30GB touch-screen sat-nav/multimedia interface…”

hmmm… correct me if you will, but doesn’t Holden Commodore come with one of these as standard nowadays? Or is it also an exclusive option for a Holden?

I can just imagine the old boys, puffing on cigars, with a cognac after a fine meal, and the conversation going something like “… and you know Nigel old chap, I did purchase one of those fine Bentley Continental Flying Spurs, and I said darn the expense, Giles is forever getting lost on the way to the Country Club, so will need one of those 30GB touch-screen sat-nav/multimedia interfaces…”. Not.

And I’ll just pop down to my nearest dealer, maybe later this morning, ol’ chap, and have a word…
