Tata closes in on Jaguar and Land Rover
December 17, 2007 by Alborz Fallah
Britain’s Sunday Times newspaper has reported that Ford Motor Co. will soon name India’s Tata Motors as preferred bidder for its Jaguar and Land Rover brands.
Tata, India’s largest manufacturer, is expected to pay about $US2 billion for Ford’s luxury brands, beating Indian rival Mahindra & Mahindra and private equity firm One Equity Partners.
More on this as it comes…

It was nice while it lasted
Is it just me or do some articles appear between others that were already posted? I think it has happened a few times now (like this one).
Does this mean LR vehicles will now become as reliable as Tata vehicles?
What are they going to cover the seats with, since cow leather will no longer be possible? Maybe they’ll use kangaroo or camel hides – ( “so he tanned his hide when he died, Clyde, and that’s it hanging in the shed….” springs to mind for some reason )
Tata will make a small fortune out of this aquisition, starting with a large one……..it’s been done before :)
great. just when i was starting to like LR for the concept car on the previous post

…
…
I hope so, LR’s reliability is absolutely lousy.
Wow…This time LR is fetching billions…last time it got sold for $10….lol… and Yes, I agree with SM
What about the $2500 Tata Nano, WORLD’s cheapest car end of story.
Better and saffer than a still expensive $3k scooter
WELL DONE INDIA, I TAKE MY HAT OFF TO YOU!
Just maybe you guys CAN turn around Jag?
Cheers
