Crashing the company super car

November 7, 2007 by Matt Brogan

It seems that not even CEOs are infallible when it comes to crashing the company car, but things get a little more interesting when the company car is a Ferrari 599 GTB and the CEO none other than Sergio Marchionne, head of Fiat.

According to witnesses, Marchionne ws travelling at about 100km/h when the vehicle in front of him braked suddenly. Marchionne jumped on the brakes but failed to pull up in time, hitting the Renault, setting off the airbags, then heading off the road in to a crash barrier.

As you’ll see from the pics, the Ferrari is none to happy and I bet neither is Marchionne. Thankfully no one was hurt, but it’s a fair bet Marchionne’s face is as red as the GTB’s paint work.

Now that’s an ingenious way of morphing a Ferrari into a Fiat. :D

  6. Steve says:

I wonder what (other) cars manufacturer CEO’s drive?

Does head of Ford drive a Jag? I wonder?

I wonder because I would think they are proud of their company and would display it by showing off maybe the flagship model of what they flog.

  7. alborz says:

Steve I’d image the head of ford, being an american, prob drives a ford! But I am sure the head of European operations would be sitting in a cool Aston

  8. 280zx says:

Looks like the new Toyota range coming out LOL

  9. mistertwo says:

100kph in Europe is very slow – although it’s on the very limit in Australia. If this had happened here he would have been critisised for speeding.

Irony is that (unbent) Ferrari looks a hell of a lot like a Supra.

  16. Andrew M says:

i think steve knows who owns Jag. i thought it was his point

  17. alborz says:

Jeff, Fiat own Ferrari, hence why he was driving one

  18. Jamison says:

    Oh my.

It WAS the most beautiful car out of all the exotic IMO.

Its a front engine mounted, tis a shame…..

and about the Supra, well its a timeless looking car, so yes there are similar traits in the design and shape… even the maranellos before this.. (luv em too).

  19. Frugal One says:

You know what, Ferrari/Fiat would not give a f*ck about the car.

This guy turned around Fiat who where near broke and junk_bond_status, after Fiat seperated from GM [hooray she cried!]

S/M work is not finished yet, but Fiat has become very profitable since he started work there.

    Cheers
