2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Official Video

By Alborz Fallah |

Subaru has released an official video of the MY08 Impreza WRX STi. Excuse the music.

The car is slowly starting to look better and better… but we’ll have to wait to see it in the flesh.

hahah, nothing like a bit of Jackson 5 to improve the appeal of a performance car

  • http://Toyota Blue Blood

LOL, yeh Smokin R32, But don’t blame it on the boogie!!

  • Bavarian Missile

Look at that …….all grown up ! Very nice!

  • woz

That music made me feel like I was back on disco floor again on saturday night still trying to recover today…. I like the raw look of the new EVO better, but this is a great example of the Impreza WRX

  • Tony

Would ANYONE other than Subaru employees buy this over an EVO X?

  • G DOG

    What a piece of…….

  • troy

My god……. kia rio once copied an sti…. anyone else see it?? blue , big kit, gold wheels.

now subaru have copied kia back. its a riced kia rio with a daewoo lanos back end.

my god what have they done!!!

( im sure its a great drive though? )

.de video? was it filmed in Germany?
Body kit helps a bit but can’t get away from the failure of this model Imprezza being a design flop.
    Evo X rocks!

  • Flying High

Unfortunately this video is very ho hum… the driving demo was zzzzzzz….my grandpa, may he RIP, could drive a car with more gutso than that…

It would appear that the only thing this car will have going for it is a sub 5 sec 0-100 time…. and given the Evo does not appear to be doing that, according to Wheels testing in Japan, I doubt this car will…

Oh Subaru – what have you done…? I hope the reality does not match the nightmare of this video….

  • Jamison

if you have PS3, make a japanese network account and you can download the demo for Gran Turismo 5 prologue… the GTR, STi, EVO, ISF are all playable… been trying each one out a lot… hehe, its the closest thing right now right?

anyways, the ISF has a really nice engine hum, GT games are known for emulating the dynamics and engine noise closest out of all other games.. and the creators of the game actually work with manufacturers a lot making simulations and dash panel electronic/systems… so I’d say its pretty accurate.

STi handles nicely… EVO is actually pretty “tall” and skinny car, looks nice. But STi the more I look at it is more functional and practical… the hatch brings in so much space.

The GTR is gun….. ISF though surprisingly it is pretty good in handles..

but the above is just a videogame feedback so :-p

A Shadow of it’s former self! This is an Insult to cars like the STI V, and even the MY08 STI. I think this MY09 will be facelifted quicker than the 01/02 ‘Bug eye’.

  • Toyota Paul

I doubt it… the regular WRX has got record sales in Canada and the U.S following the more grown up image, the STi follows the same line with a more grown up look… overall I would prefer it over the Evo which has a shocking interior for a potentially $70k vehicle.

  • Flying High

Well I agree with you there Toyota Paul re the Evo interior. And the interior of the STi certainly appears to be superior given this video.

However wouldn’t you agree that this video is lame – esp the driving?

I mean we are talking about the Flagship Performance Vehicle for Subaru. It looks like its been driven by Grandpa on a driving test trying to keep his NSW Driving licence!

Why didn’t they film something showing off the vehicle dynamics. What is the point of the driving in this video at all?

  • Ivan

I agree with Jamison about the Evo X being tall and skinny. Compared to the shorter look of the STI and the boxer engine will give it a much lower centre of gravity. This will in turn improve the handling.

I have been waiting for a hatch subaru STI for a long time, and I like this model a lot.

I’m very happy for Subaru to focus their STI car on the rally as well, as you all can see that most rally wins are dominated by hatches, Citroen C5, Peugeot, Ford Focus, etc.
Now that Subaru is also hatch, it will do greatly in the WRC.

Sale figures for 2008 will most certainly reflect is success.
Subaru designers deserves all that comes to them, and so does Subaru Japan for allowing this girly look.
