Toyota RAV4 Altitude special edition

By Brett Davis |

Toyota has released a special edition ‘Altitude’ RAV4. Made in Japan, the edition is fitted with $1700 worth of extras and only costs $500 more than the normal Toyota RAV4 CV.

New alloys wheels, privacy glass for the rearward windows, roof rails and parking sensors give the Altitude a unique touch compared to the base ‘CV’ model. It also comes with a six-stack CD player, USB audio system and bespoke steering wheel and shift knob.

Inclusive, too. There’s only 800 of them on offer, so you better be quick. Prices start at $32,490 in manual transmission form. Automatic transmission is available too and comes with the added bonus of Downhill Assist Control.

How does it stack up? Well, Mitsubishi offers the Outlander LS for $32,990 (base model). It does come with alloy wheels, but privacy glass and parking sensors are optional extras.

Nissan offers its X-Trail ST for $32,990 (base model). It comes with an MP3 audio system, but doesn’t offer alloy wheels as standard.

Then there’s the Subaru Forester X which is available for $30,990. It offers a five star ANCAP safety rating for all models. The base model doesn’t come with alloy wheels. It does come with UV protective glass on the rearward windows though and an MP3/CD audio system, for comparison.

Shhh don’t say that. These comments will get deleted for sure! Caradvice hates when it’s independence is questioned.

    Wow… made in Japan…
Are they still proud of made in Japan things???
It is YOU Toyota who tarnished Japan.

  • Hung Low

Well worthy of the Altitude badge once they are driven off a cliff!

  • mrfree

You’d better get rid of that attitude Toyota.

Another Toyota with a special shift knob?

    I’m so spoilt for choice!!!

  • MORECARS

No photos of the new shift knob?

reading this made me cringe. Outlander is definitely the pick of the bunch. The ‘insert stereo here’ style of stereo frustrates me.

  • Save it for the track

    *yawn*

Get a life you guys, if you are going to post a comment at least put forward something meaningful like, what needs to be improved, or what features are better or worse from one model to another, or why you would choose a Subaru or an Outlander over a Rav4 ???? Clearly the level of your knowledge and maturity is reflected by your comments!
