Mitsubishi and Nissan outselling Honda comfortably?

I guess Honda’s ridiculously high prices are starting to hurt them.

    • Who?

It’s not exactly news, been like that for months

      • Tim

        Years actually.

        VW ahead of Subaru.

  • Robin Graves

It still amazes me how many people pay money for a Craptiva

    • Colin A

      Robin,
I personally know of fleets are buying them because the published fuel figures look good to head office (even though the buyers know it’s BS and that now their fuel bill is considerably higher than the Territorys they used to drive).

      • Robin Graves

Not to mention all the time it will spend at the Holden dealer and not on the road.

        • Stoney!

Wow you really got no idea do you…. I’ve had my Captiva for almost 3 years now without any problems what so ever. And I get better fuel economy than any territory also…

These Korean cars are very reliable, Which is wy We got a Cruze for the wife, what a magnificent car.

          • Colin A

Agreed Stoney, the Captiva matches or slightly betters the Territory for fuel consumption; problem is it’s only the DIESEL versions, and deisel is usually quite a bit more expensive than ULP, hence the fleet running costs for Captivas are higher than Territory.
Petrol Captivas on the other hand have been a disaster foe the (too) many fleets that bought them.

          • Steve

Ha ha. Sounds like a dream garage pfffftttt. You brag about getting STD’s also?

          • Stoney!

hahaha, wasn’t actually me. friend using my computer but I agree with him his car has been great to him. I got a golf, less reliable but more enjoyable hahaha.

            Stoney!

    • Bent 8 Brigade

Oh Robyn…still with the anti-Holden propaganda?
      Shame nobody cares

      • CA

Just the facts “Bent Holden Freak”

BTW, when you start to lift your own stsndards then maybe you can be critical.

      • Robin Graves

Haha Propoganda? For Holden fans its like speaking against the fuhrer telling the TRUTH. Daewoos are crap, Craptivas are crap.

        • Bent 8 Brigade

One wonders if Robyn thinks her compulsive anti-Holden spamming will affect Holden’s sales figures…?

          • mmmm

at least it keeps minds off fords poor sales results,
must be hard trying to celebrate a 50th anniversary knowing the australian falcon is a goner in 3 years.
still if you keep making up BS about holden maybe no one will notice when the falcon dies.

          • Ezz

Would anyone like some profit with that? No? Ok, then.

          • Robin Graves

No amount of truth spreading will stop rednecks from believing Holden’s ads and thinking that all the vehicles are somehow made in Australia, not rebadged Daewoos except for the Conformadore and Colorado. So Bent Man, you are correct for once – I have no hope of affecting sales, and I dont care. A fool and his money are easily parted.

  • Gan Tan

Pwoar! Honda had a massive month. I guess the discounts across their range worked?

I don’t know whether to lol or cry about SAAB

    • bob

SAAB haven’t imported any cars into Australia since early 2009 so its little wonder they haven’t sold any.

  • http://www.facebook.com/sammo.8191 Sam Moss

An excellent result from Peugeot this month, it has jumped a few places to 16th just below Audi, and has sold more than Lexus for the first time in quite a while. This may be the result of some significant price reductions across the range and increased marketing of their vehicles.

    Take note, Renault.

    • Steve-Poyza

      Oh Renault :(

  • Leon70

A much better result for Skoda with 179 sales versus 119 in May. I’m pretty sure the Superb Wagon accounts for a lot of the increase. Feel a bit sorry for Saab, i’d defintely like to see the new 9-5 here, but i wonder if we will…

    • Able

It’s the Skoda “run-out before closure sale”!

      • Able

This troll is not me! Get a life and p!5s off! I fail to see why Skoda creates such a negative vibe, especially considering the more sophisticated among us don’t make such stupid and baseless comments about Holdens! F&#k off loser!

  • Joseph

Well done to Mercedes-Benz, Anyone know how the C-Class went?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=668475019 Jake Williams

      Something like 700 sales.

  • Shak

Did anyone realise where Hyundai is this month? Just goes to show good product and cheap prices bring in market share. I wont be surprised if in two years Hyundai overtakes Ford.

    • Andrew M

And Ford is Clawing Holden back at the same rate. Whats surprising is Ford is doing it with a smaller product range.

If Holden hadnt contracted the Cruze from Korea they would be real easy picking by now

  • Crossy

Why don’t Mahindra appear on this list?
I know they don’t look like a new vehicle but thought they would still get counted.

    • C

I believe the figures above are for passenger vehicles only. Mahindra, being commercial hence are not included.

      • Shak

how do you explain Toyotas figures then. the Hilux, and there whole utility range have to be included for their figures to be that high. Because toyota only has two class leading cars, the Camry and the yaris

        • Shak

Correction, srry the Corolla and the Camry, the Landcruiser cant be selling in high enough numbers to boost sales figures over 7000 over holden.

      • Crossy

Isuzu are on this list and they only have “commercial” vehicles.

  • Steve

Any chance of getting the sales numbers of the top 3 vehicles in each segment?

  • Steve

Any chance of getting the sales numbers of the top 3 vehicles in each segment? Please!!

  • Robert

Looks like Chrysler should be renamed Jeep. Not long for this world on those figures. Even that Chinese”generic pickups” as nearly matched Jeep in sales.

  • http://www.caradvice.com.au Jim Goose senior

Oh dear, the pie chart is back, and again,no numbers for each individual model. This article has told me virtually nothing. I want numbers guys so I can see how they’re really performing against eachother.

  • Taxie

I had a 3 week vacation to NZ in which I hired a Territory TS AWD 6 speed auto for a week and unfortunatley I had to settle for a Captive for 4 days the second week. I can tell you all the fuel economy of the Captiva diesel was worse that the Territory and the car as a whole is nowhere near the Territory. The pathetic ride handling comfort performance economy cheap feel of the Captiva was a shock to me and the wife. Through the twisty roads around NZ of which there are many the Captiva was felt like it was going to roll over and it was gutless up the hills. I couldnt believe how bad they are. The Territory took it all on with ease and comfort. Captiva felt very unsafe and i cant understand why anyone would waste their hard earned on this piece of crap.

  • Taxie

OOOPPPS 2 week vacation…….i wish it would have been 3 !!

  • ABMPSV

When we will see finnaly private sale figures!!!

    • Hung Low

An educated guess would make Mazda the leader then!

  • Ben

I dont know what the past month sales are, but Ford seems to be coming back up the order sales wise, good sign for the future :-) Will be really interesting to see how the falcon goes next year with the ecoboost 4. I hope ford bring over euro versions of the fiesta, focus and mondeo with the ecoboost 4′s, would be great :-)

  • http://www.caradvice.com.au Jim Goose senior

What on earth is Hyundai doing in 4th spot above Mazda and Mitsubishi? Theres no accounting for some peoples choices. Seems they’d rather drive rubbish over Japanese quality, just for the sake of having an extra bit of loose change in their pocket. Just wait for resale in 5 years….you’ll get nothing for them!!

    • Andrew M

Hyundai has jumped on the fleet train BIG TIME.
That accounts for a lot of their growth

    • Robin Graves

You are a goose Jim, nothing wrong with Hyundai’s resale except for the outgoing Sonata, which is still better than conformadore and the 380 back when it wasnt a dead duck. Most of this ‘Japanese Quality’ you spruik on about is made in Thailand anyway. Mazda make good cars but Mitsubishi has been struggling for years. The only thing decent about a Mitsubishi is the engine block, which is made by Hyundai, even the 4G11 in the evo.

  • Fernando

Great wall outsells Skoda. Can’t believe it. It seems like not a small number of people believe a low price tag means economical. Well, I believe reliablity and resale vale play more important roll than price tag in the long term.

  • Anthony

I bought a Honda Accord Euro during the month gto replace my much loved but sadly written off VW Jetta, and what a magnificent car it is.
Honda have been amazing to deal with, very impressed so far.

  • Al Juraj

I’m surprised the BMW X5 didn’t make it in the luxury SUV podium.

  • http://www.crudeoilpeak.com Matt Mushalik

All these car buyers have no idea that Australian crude oil production, according to Geoscience Australia, will decline by 85% by 2020. While at the same time global oil exports are shrinking. Federal Resource Minister Martin Ferguson has already warned twice that we are facing an oil import crisis. No one is listening.

  • vandriver

saab is a dead duck as far as australia is concerned but will prosper in europe, usa and china.
