Lexus LFA chasing Nürburgring lap record
The Lexus LFA has returned to the Nürburgring sporting a striking new two-tone paint finish, although exactly what business it has at the 'Ring is unclear.
The model in these photos has been equipped with Lexus' Nürburgring package for the LFA comprising a larger front spoiler, side canards and a new rear wing, all constructed from carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).
Aside from the glaring two-tone paint finish the only other anomaly which sets this particular example apart is the more steeply set rear wing for even greater downforce.
With just one driver in the cockpit in full race dress, an antennae on the roof and a raft of electronic devices suction-mounted to the windscreen it appears that Lexus may have the Nürburgring lap record in its sights.
Despite being bred at the 'Ring, Lexus has never released an official lap time for the LFA so perhaps now is time to set the record straight.
The more track-focussed Lexus LFA with the Nürburgring package will certainly improve upon the standard car's lap time, but will it be enough to topple its main rivals?
