New STi Official Teaser #3
In order to avoid the disastrous image leaks that set the wrong first-impression for the new WRX, Subaru has decided to continue a series of official teasers showing the all new STi. Say hello to the third official teaser.
Like the first two, the latest image doesn’t tell us much, from current details though, apart from the tuned engine, suspension and brakes, the STi should come with pumped guards, STi alloy wheels and badging. We will know for sure when the car makes its official debut at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month
Unless the images are hiding something big, we are a little bit disappointed with the subtle styling of the STi, like most of you, we were hoping that since the new WRX is no longer the enthusiasts car it once was, at least the STi would continue the dream. Maybe it still will, but it sure doesn’t look like it from these images!
In the meantime, Mitsubishi is happy to steal the limelight with the new Evo X, gearing up for the car’s Australian debut at next week’s Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.

Nice car, and it has been given a different look and still has that spring in its step.

I think the Sti has the potential to be a great car. The WRX is somewhat under-rated in terms of looks, from what Ive seen of spy photos it looks like theyve fixed it up in key areas (such as dual exhausts) while in terms of performance theyve always been good in terms of engine performance but I think handling may also exceed peoples expectations given that the WRX manages to handle slightly better then the outgoing WRX with heaps of body roll so logically youd think an Sti with the same new suspension set up but waaaaaaaay stiffer should do very well.

These photos are not really depicting an exciting vehicle. Please let me be wrong. I really do want the STi to be worth the wait. I wonder if Subaru will surprise us with an STi at the Sydney Motor Show. The Evo X is already quite prominently featured on TV ads for the Sydney Motor Show and there is no secret Mitsushitsi will be looking for interested buyers - and unless this STi is REALLY spectacular, I as a current member of the go fast Suby family, will be registering my interest in the Evo - even if it is the wrong make….

It seems almost confirmed, that the WRX STi is almost a replica of the WRC car concept. Which is great.
The pumped guards make it look like its on “steroids”, aggressive looking for sure. Now just need to see if the wheel arc is the same as the WRC.
I think this car will grow on people..
The EVO X has been shown and has impressed, but Subaru is going to a different direction, basically its “done up” from the get go, has that after market/race track look.

I can only hope you are right Jamison. I have out off buying a new car until Feb next year in anticipation of something great, unless I can get a very good deal on the current STi. Does anyone know if Suby are still making the current STi models or are they just running down the stock they have? The advertised prices I have seen for the current model are high - and they are all ‘used’ cars i.e. 150kms or more so hardly ‘new’
