That’s a seriously good looking wagon.

    • Minnow

Agreed!!! Their best wagon yet. I am now a huge fan of the 5 series wagon. M5 wagon, BRING IT ON

  • Shak

Much better looking than the GT, i dont even know why they have both of them. This is a good wagon and all, but if you can have the more spacious, and supposedly more versatile GT why buy the wagon. I’d rather the wagon, but i dont think BMW’s customer base thinks the same way.

    • The Realist

My understanding is that the GT is actually based on the 7 series platform, so naturally greater interior space.

      • Devil’s Advocate

To save costs on the new 5 Series IIRC BMW also based it off the 7 series as well. IIRC from what I have read previously it is basically a 7 series underneath with a little bit chopped out of the middle.

        • Shak

That is what i thought. So why bother with so many segment blurring vehicles? its as if BMW want their sales to go all over the place.

  • The Realist

    Gorgeous interior.

But the brains trust at Aussie publications like Wheels Magazine will still prefer a Commodore interior.

  • Tim

Is that a manual transmission I see!

    • Devil’s Advocate

Looks like it to me. Don’t forget that Europe are still big on Manuals with them out-selling Automatics by a considerable margin. It is mostly us Aussies and the Yanks that have such a love affair with automatics! ;-) :-)

  • Valet Dabess

i swear the dash layout on every bmw looks the same

    • Classic

I guess if it ain’t broken, why fix it?

  • Shane

That is a seriously nice wagon.

Why anyone would choose an X5 over this is beyond me.

The estate looks better, handles better, would be quicker and would probably have similiar if not more storage space in the back.

Estates are the think persons load carrier and this is one of the best. just look at it… classy.

  • Classic

I have heard good things about this 2.0L turbo diesel, but I have no personal experience with it. Would the size/weight of this vehicle be too much for such a seemingly small engine? It seems the fuel eff figures are great, but what about performance?

  • Jimmy

Prettier than the sedan I reckon.

  • Fenno

This should make the x5 redundant. They’re as much use (off road) as a chocolate tea-pot.
