2010 Volkswagen Amarok single cab spy photos

By Matt Brogan |

Update: Volkswagen Amarok Review.

Until now most images of the new Volkswagen Amarok have depicted a dual-cab model leaving many wondering if the extra load space offered in single-cab variants will fall by the way side.

Well, wonder no longer with these spy photos from Sweden showing a single-cab version of the Volkswagen Amarok cold weather testing without camouflage.

Engine options are expected to be the same as the dual-cab, but since the single-cab is more of a workhorse, there could be some changes in the option list meaning that the Highline version could be missing.

I like the bulkiness of the shape.

    Looks like a 4×4 model?

Car was parked and no driver, no excuse for not getting internal photos, [has it a bench-seat?]

If they can keep the price sharp, they WILL sell ok me think here in OZ

Needs to be mid $25k’s for a 2WD VW PickUp, i dont think BigT will lose any sleep, but every VW sold is one less HiLux sold….

      @CrustytheClown

If you need to know if it has a bench seat, why not just visit a dealer when they’re out in Aus? It’s already been stated that the pricing will be close to Hilux. Why does it need to be $25k? Buyers pay more or less, it will sell no matter how much it is if someone wants it. One less Hilux sold is a good thing (not for Toyota obviously), not sure why you’d not want Toyota’s sold, they are a good workhorse and they sell as customer’s enjoy their ownership, so why stop that?

      Strange comment Crusty.

I think A “space” cab with a rear bench seat would be the best option for most Aussies who don’t need much space inside but need extra length in the back, should be interesting to see how much of an impact it has, probably only convincing some buyers who would otherwise would have just bought another brand on default.

The styling works much better on the 4×4 dual cab. This one looks top heavy. Perhaps a set of decent wheels that actually fill those massive arches would help.

I cannot beleive how gulable we Australians are.
In this segment and I am not talking Landcruiser of which I have has 6 of, the Hilux is built to a price just like the other Jap brands all now made in Thailand.
Take a second and think about this:
$55K for a dual cab 4×4 without electronic aids for safety! That use to cost sub 20Ks? They are having a lend of us and have been for some time. The cost of these relics is out of control and for what, to say I drive a Toyota.
If VW were not importing these vehicles, it would still be many years until tradie work vehicles were up to speed with electronic safety aids, especially considering how many feature in accidents.
Really, the Jap brands have been putting these safety features into the same models in Europe for years, we are the poor country cousins, that have 3 fingers and 2 heads in the eyes of these Jap companies and it’s about time we told them where to stick their poor offerings.
In closing, our local manufactures had their chance, but blew it for what ever reason. We could by now be all driving around in desiel Ford and Holden 4x4s built for Australian conditions by Australians.
    RIP
