The upcoming Audi Q8 ‘coupe SUV’ has been spied on the Nurburgring.

This latest prototype is wearing about the same level of disguise as the vehicle spotted back in February.

So, while we can’t see any new details about the exterior, a shot taken at the Volkswagen Group’s Nurburgring compound confirms without a shadow a doubt the new Q8 will have frameless windows.

In addition to this, the photographers have managed to capture photos of the car’s interior for the first time.

While the cabin isn’t quite as futuristic as the Q8 Concept’s, it still marks a major departure from the Audi norm.

On the top of the dashboard is the temporary version of the production car’s high-resolution infotainment display. Below the air vents is a touchscreen with controls for the climate control and seating systems, at the very minimum.

Underneath this second monitor are capacitive buttons for various car functions, including a drive mode selector, stability control, and hazard lights. This new setup dramatically pares back the number of physical buttons.

Under the skin, the Q8 will use the MLB Evo component set for front- and all-wheel drive vehicles with longitudinal engines. The new crossover will be closely related to the already released Audi Q7, and Bentley Bentayga.

The platform will also spawn the upcoming Lamborghini Urus, and the next-generation versions of the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne.

This prototype uses a tachometer face taken directly from the Audi SQ7, hinting that a 320kW/900Nm 4.0-litre V8 diesel lurks under the bonnet with two turbochargers and an electric compressor.

Unlike the more practical Q7, the Q8 may be offered with a version of the high-performance twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine destined to power the Lamborghini Urus.
