Mitsubishi Concept-cX City Compact Crossover

August 29, 2007 by Alborz Fallah

While Toyota and Honda have both let their compact city SUVs turn into mini tanks and Suzuki enjoys the success of the SX4, Mitsubishi is considering entering a new challenger.

Mitsubishi Concept cX

A single image of the Mitsubishi Concept-cX hit the net this morning (above). Previously all we had seen from Mitsubishi was this sketch:

Mitsubishi Concept cX

4.1 meters long, the compact crossover is built on Mitsubishi’s Lancer global compact platform. The idea is simple, similar size to a Lancer but equipped with the electric control 4WD technology taken from the Outlander.

What do you think? Mitsubishi would like to know since the car is still waiting for mass production approval. The company is hoping for a positive public reaction before deciding the concept’s future.

The car will be at this year’s Frankfurt Motorshow and we will be there to bring you all the pictures.

nice one cept.. is it me or does the back remind me of a c30??

  2. Grumps says:

That is one ugly front end!

  3. bob says:

Front looks like the new Lancer.. the rest of it is pretty ugly. A good car for Mitsu to introduce but please please please make it more pretty – the current Outlander style is a million times better!

  4. 280zx says:

I Think this car is in severe danger of being humped by every dog in the street ? LOL

  5. Damo says:

Not too bad, it looks better and more streamlined in the concept sketch though. It could look quite classy, and shows that Mitsubishi’s design is becoming a lot more consistent. Love that Audi-style grille and the taillights are pretty sweet!

  6. Nick says:

I really like it as is. I would definately buy one, and in that colour. Looks like it has indicators on hte mirrors which is cool

  7. phaeton says:

I think this Lancer hatch crossover would be much better suited as a normal hatch instead of the Sportback thing (which is bland if you ask me).

Then Mitsubishi could build niche products like crossovers at a latter date.

BTW concept looks great Mitsu ;)

  8. Damo says:

How sweet does that exhaust in the sketch look?

  9. Steven A says:

Nice one Mitsubishi, its very sporty and looks much like the new 08 Lancer.Keep up the good work, its agressive yet classy.

  10. Bavarian Missile says:

Whats the name of that new Volvo with a rear like that?

    Front looks mean and angry…..GGGGRRRRRRRRRRR

  11. great looks, trying to captivate everyone’s eyes? well, it does! how about its interi0r? isn’t it nice? i guess it surely does great j0b for Concept-cX. :)
