Mazda BT-50 upgraded for 2010, new Boss models

By Matt Brogan |

Mazda have updated its award-winning BT-50 for 2010 with improved safety, comfort, convenience and style.

Now dubbed the BT-50 Boss range, it kicks off with the 4×2 Single Cab Chassis DX which adds power windows and mirrors to an already impressive feature list. The 4×4 Single Cab Chassis DX adds alloy wheels along with power windows and mirrors. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is now available as an option on both these models.

All Freestyle and Dual Cab DX models now add ABS with EBD as a standard feature along with alloy wheels and power windows and mirrors. BT-50 DX+ models which already feature power windows and mirrors now also add alloy wheels and ABS with EBD for increased style and safety.

The range-topping BT-50 SDX builds on its already impressive equipment levels by adding side airbags and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. In addition to this, manual SDX variants get a leather gear shift knob.

An efficient 2.5 litre common rail turbo-diesel engine with an output of 105kW and 330Nm continues to power the 4×2 Single Cab Chassis DX. All other models are powered by a larger 3.0 litre common rail turbo-diesel engine with an impressive 115kw and 380Nm which makes towing loads of up to 3000kg an easy task. Both engines employ a variable-geometry turbocharger and a large intercooler to ensure spirited acceleration.

Drivetrains are offered in either 4×2 or 4×4 configurations. Two types of 4×4 systems are available – manual transmission with manual shift or automatic transmission with electric shift – with each offering fuss-free transfer between 4×2 and 4×4 modes and go-anywhere performance.

Available in three value-packed grades and body styles (Single Cab, Freestyle Cab and Dual Cab) each is specifically tailored to meet the diverse needs of utility buyers.

Mazda has adopted Promotional Drive Away prices for selected models in the new BT-50 Boss range as follows:

  • Mazda BT-50 4×2 Cab Chassis DX with boss pack* (from $23,390)

Well done Mazda as this is a great ute and deserves the praises and awards that it has received in the past…..now Mazda get out there and kick butt with an in your face campaign…

All that is missing…on the 2.5 2wd range is a ute as not everyone wants a cab/chassis and optional auto….

How about a V6 engine and this would be a great truck. What happened to the 4.0L V6 from the previous model Ford Courier?

    • Pete

These types of utes are just a relic from a bygone era, the suspension, ride, handling, and braking on these types of utes are horrible for the amount of money you pay for them.

      • Jake

“”These types of utes are just a relic from a bygone era, the suspension, ride, handling, and braking”"

So what should they be like Pete?

Ride handle and brake like a landcruiser for 23k?

Its a work truck Pete. What do you suggest? I want to cart a ton and a half of whatever? Put it in the boot of a commodore maybe?

My Mazda Bravo,1999 model, has just turned over 200,000k’s. It still handles and drives like I bought it yesterday. The only gripe I have is that the gearbox has a whine in 3rd gear. The noise has been there for the last 100,000k’s. I think it was dodgy oil from a service that has damaged a bearing. Other than that, my ute is Magic. Just get in and turn the key.

I would recommend a Mazda to anybody without hesitation.

    Cheers
    Mick
