The teaser train for the all-new 2016 Kia Sportage has rolled out, with a trio of preview sketches surfacing online today ahead of a Frankfurt motor show debut next month.
Today’s sketches, although heavily stylised, offer a revealing look at the new mid-sized SUV’s exterior and interior looks.
A pair of high-set, Porsche Macan-like headlights dominate the face of the sketched Sportage, set back from Kia’s familiar ‘tiger nose’ grille design and large fog-light bezels.
A largely evolutionary design features through the profile, with a tapered roof and rising belt-line set above subtly muscular wheel arches and door panels.
At the rear there’s a slender new triangular design to the wraparound tail-lamps, connected through the centre of the tail-gate by either a reflective or LED-lit strip.
A large display dominates the centre of the dash, flanked by air-conditioning vents on either side and a series of switches and dials below.
Little else about the new Sportage has been revealed at this stage, although it is understood the new model will share much of its architecture and mechanical package with Hyundai’s newly-launched Tucson mid-sizer.
Watch for the new Sportage to make its global debut in Frankfurt next month, with Australian sales likely to begin early in 2016.
