Audi releases 2010 A8 teaser pic

By Matt Brogan |

Although heavily disguised beneath a black veil, Audi has today released a teaser pic of its upcoming 2010 model A8.

The new A8 was set to debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September, but due to financial constraints, we may not see the car now until the Los Angeles Auto Show in December.

This first image doesn’t give much away but we can see Audi’s signature LED running lamps are now included on the flagship A8.

Under the new sheet metal will be an extended version of the modular platform, as used in the A4, but with extensive use of more exotic materials (such as aluminium and magnesium) to save weight and improve driving dynamics.

The A8’s engine lineup will most likely mirror that of the current range though could possibly extend to add Audi’s new 6.0-litre V12 TDI (diesel).

CarAdvice will keep you posted on any developments.

  • Dude

    looks promising

  • Deco

V12 diesel, has anyone done that before?

  • Will

The mighty Volkswagen Group re-invents the muscle car, certainly a machine for the new millennium. When compared to the pro-Klutz mobiles makes GM. look like a joke.

  • Ross R

    hahaha thats not a muscle car,its a Sportscar/Supercar .

Since when have GM thought of Audi as their competition ? Seems you look like the joke mate.

Charles/Will how is the Skoda ?

  • Will

Ross, The Skoda is fine mate. You think about buying an RS. prior to considering anything from either the GMH or Ford performance division…then again options for you will be limited…

  • FrugalOne

Before when you purchased a top of the line A8 LWB, ~$300k, you got as a bonus a limo pick up service, 1st class air flight to Sydney, and had dinner with the AUDI AUS. CEO, is that still ongoing?

AUDI’s [auto-union] are the thinking mans luxo car brand!

    Cheers

Given that first cloaked shot of the car, I would say they are trying to attract the Saudi buyers first and foremost…

Looks pretty cool, as cool as a car with a black sheet draped over it. I tend to think that a turbo V8 would be more effective in these times than a diesel V12.

  • Neil

Looks like yet another stunning Audi, or, so i hope. Seems as though the design team are hoping to push across yet another new verison of the ‘Audi-face’ with a more aggressive look. Hopefully they show BMW & MB how to create a luxury limo with real style

  • PaulS

The car would undoubtedly be elegant and handsome…. but is too much of a family resemblance a good thing? All of Audi’s line up (except for the TT Coupe) look like a streched out or shrunk down version of the A4.

Here is hoping for Audi to implement new styling cues on this model.

  • Mumble Duck

This does look good. Can’t wait!!!!
