The race, which kicks off in Monaco tomorrow, will see about 350 Škoda support vehicles follow the event including the brand’s all-new Yeti.

“Basically, there are two pillars on which Škoda builds its international corporate sponsorship communication strategies – ice-hockey and cycling, two sports that efficiently complement each other in terms of covering the respective European markets and are seen as very powerful tools employed to enhance brand awareness, the product image, as well as brand and product visibility,” said Tour de France Head of Corporate Communications, Martin Lauer.

“Cycling offers great opportunities of presenting Škoda vehicles in the very heart of the competition where they are in close contact with racers, fans and potential buyers. Continuity in this aspect is very important, and we also appreciate the organisers’ efforts to expand the Tour de France to other countries, such as Spain and Switzerland where the Tour is also going to appear this year.”

Yeah, skoda, *somebody* [ok, one!] is going to be really happy about this.

    Go Cadel Evens!!

Awwww thanks FrugalOne, I love making friends, and it seems that you have replaced ChineseDriver as my bestie, as such, online.

My view on this is, I don’t really care. There’s got to be a car support crew and it just-so-happens to be Skoda. Just like Kia supporting the Aussie Open (tennis). Great.

    Moving on…

Excellent mode of operation for exposure to the world. Again Skoda is just being smart.

“Smart” is’nt that the opposition’s [Benz] product?

I DON’T dislike any brand, [unlike bogans going feral over Ford v Holden products] I am all for MORE choices, so the more brands the better, this keeps every brand on its toes and prices/features honest and fair.

Just like everybody, i have some brands i would/nt buy.

Who’s ChineseDriver, does he own a GreatWall vehicle?

PS Liking a certain Kia and buying it and 2 different things mind you!
More interested in the Cerato LPG Hybrid, than the std. one, noted that C/A has made no reference to it, its landmark vehcile for mine, $1.80/100km [not Frugal for nothing!]cannot be beat, perhaps they will surprise us and be the FIRST in the world to test it?

    Cheers

Excuse me? What the hell is that outburst about?you must be living in the past, because no points about any of our previous battles were made by me in my above post. When did I suggest that you dislike a brand?

ChineseDriver is another dude online who I’ve had disagreements on Skoda. Ironically, he drives one of the R-line VWs (but won’t tell us which one…).

I would like that LPG Cerato very much as well, it’s a genius solution to the problem that is high running costs on cars. Stupid Toyota thinks that Hybrids are the solution to GW, yet they don’t realise that LPG (or diesel) exists.
