Video: Chevrolet Camaro by Jay Leno

May 18, 2009 by George Skentzos

In this video, Tonight Show host slash car nut Jay Leno has been handed the keys to the Australian-developed 2010 Chevrolet Camaro for his own unique take on the reborn American classic.

With the US motoring industry heading the way of the Dodo, Jay suggests the new Camaro may be the car to save General Motors from the brink of collapse – it’s just a shame we will most likely never see it sold on local shores.

Always liked Leno’s Garage, entertaining without being pretentious. Knows his stuff and doesnt spend his time whinging about the quality of the interior plastics, christ that bores me. Camaro looks great too

That car is stunning in the sheet metal. Side view is menacingly gorgeous.

    Very tough side on

did you see they put a stock one on the dyno in the states and got 272rwkw?

brilliant car in every way, i really wish holden would bring it here

and smokinr32 agreeeeddddd, i am so tired of hearing about interior plastics.

Leno just sounds like a guy who loves cars, reviewers will go over a car with a fine measuring tape usually, picking out little points that enthusiasts dont care about, sure if a cars interior ergonomics arnt perfect it could be better, but as long as the driving position is comfortable, i’m usually happy.

Leno seems like this, he is excited and overwhelmed by all the positive aspects of cars, without being nitpicky.

Great overview. If only GM had produced this sort of vehicle 10-15 years ago…

I love seeing jay’s reviews he is great he is a true car nut like me. allthough typical of americans no credit to the heavy heavy development of the car in australia, it was seen here last year on australian roads for months of testing, yet not one mention of it being jointly developed in oz…typical….credit where credit is due usa…
And i would LOVE it if it came here….but im 95% sure it never will, only as a private import maybe….

Jay Leno should host a Top Gear USA, he is about the only person i can think of that would do a good job. While this car looks great it’s not that much faster than the Mustang GT. It also doesn’t handle as good as the live axel Mustang when you get it with the handling package. For the 2011 model year the Mustang will get the new 5.0 V8 and also offer the ecoboost V6 which will give you the best of both worlds, a Turbo V6 that is quick and economical and good ole fashion V8 power. See you in the mirror Camaro.
