Citroen now offers Australia’s longest new-vehicle warranty, with its C-line and DS passenger range — but not the Berlingo van — now covered for six years and unlimited kilometres.

Every Citroen passenger vehicle will also be covered by six years of free roadside assistance and get six years/90,000km (intervals of every 12 months or 15,000km) of capped-price servicing.

The announcement has been timed to coincide with Bastille Day, which falls on Monday July 14, according to the brand.

6 YEAR UNLIMITED KM WARRANTY

Since March 2014, the company has offered this unmatched aftersales coverage on its Grand C4 Picasso and DS range — the DS3, DS4 and DS5. The same treatment now applies to the C3, C4, C5 and C4 Aircross.

The Berlingo keeps its three-year/100,000km coverage.

The six-year warranty beats the five-year terms of Kia, Hyundai and Renault (unlimited kilometres) and Mitsubishi (130,000km). Kia, however, is currently considering whether to extend its coverage to seven years, as it offers in Europe.

But for now, Citroen has the longest of all, a selling-point it no doubt hopes will help build its reputation and allay any concerns customers may have about the quality of its vehicles.

“The six-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and six-year capped-price service plan across our entire passenger range is a statement of our commitment to Australia,’’ Citroen Australia national marketing manager Manuel Tyras said.

“Customers can now purchase with the confidence of a six-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty for all passenger vehicles, along with the peace of mind that comes with six-year roadside assist and six-year capped-price servicing.

“It could not have happened without the support of PSA and the entire Citroen team both here and in Paris, and it could not have happen on a better day than Bastille.”
