Skoda Roomster axed again in Oz

The quirky Skoda Roomster city car has been pulled from sale in Australia ... again.

The Czech brand's oddball wagon was reintroduced to the country mid-2012 having been discontinued three years after its 2007 introduction, but has now been axed again due to poor sales.

A release issued by the brand on its new capped-price servicing program made no mention of the Roomster, and Volkswagen Australia Group communications general manager Karl Gehling confirmed the model had been dropped due to its "sales volume."

"It's a very practical vehicle and we thought [with] the setup that we had it would have had better appeal," he added. "But unfortunately it hasn't taken off."

The Roomster managed just 102 sales in 2013, and 146 sales since its reintroduction in the Australian market in June 2012.
