I think the Isuzu runs a DOHC vs Holden’s SOHC.

the engine is exactly the same the d max is the old model rodeo . they come out of the same factory !!!!
I’d own one. It couldn’t be less reliable than my navara. Isuzu build some of the best diesel engines in the world.
Nice looking. I always think lighter neutral colors look best in photos like this. Silver would be very flattering to this truck

Doesn’t look too bad but has the same problem as all dual cabs – the tray is tiny! No space for the downhill bike in the back = no dice.
Yo uare legally allowed to extend the tray to 1.8 mts long. Which will hold your Tricycle.
isuzu supply some parts to holden. the colorado is manufactured in a seperate factory.isuzu have there own factory and have nothing to do with holden or colorado

JEKYL & HYDE – apparently your a fool! Both are isuzu designs yes, however the colarado is definetly made in a seperate factory to the d-max as of 2 years ago (previously the holden rodeo and overseas isuzu d-max’s WHERE made in the same factory).
this also explains why the d-max’s are noticeably better built then the colorado, if they where both out of the same factory it would be the same!
i’m pretty sure the Colorado is single cam… i know holden sales staff are extremely evasive on that and it’s a shame that most online and print media is so beholden to Holden (so to speak) that they don’t make this fact 100% clear
btw. i don’t mind the D-Max 4×4… it’s at least honest but the 4×2 is obviously looking for a reason for existing… and this basic chassis is already 8 yrs old and it’s the basis for the GWM ute as well… so it’s all a bit old isn’t it?
I can fit 4 wheels and tyres off my corolla its boot…… You have lots of photos but none of the off road work.
I thought I came across something a while ago that said the Colorado is built separately to the D Max.
Perhaps Alborz should clear it up.

I read the the Colorado is built in a Dawoo factory and the motor is supplied by Isuzu.Not that i give a….
AND look at the great wall 240 ( i think ) besides its ugly nose, its thes same vehicle underneath.
same dash, same door panels etc

I have a 2008 LX Colorado 3.0 and a 2009 D Max Sx, both one tonne traybacks
DMAX has a DOHC 16 Valve Chain driven engine
Colorado has SOHC 12 Valve timing belt driven engine.
DMAX averages 7.3 ltr per 100km, COLORADO 8.5 ltrs per 100km
DMAX was $2000 cheaper fitted out exactly the same

Hi there, the D-Max is an awesome ute. Have just bought a brand new SX from Cartwright Isuzu, Southport. Excellent service coupled with a great car. They look pretty good on the outside and pretty good on the inside. I have always owned landcruisers and this ute will make a nice luxurious change to drivin a bloody rough truck. I love my D-Max. The Colorado just doesn’t seem the same, Isuzu just gives you that good feel about a reliable, quality diesel. Good on ya D-Max.
the article says “the sound system is not top notch but is all you would need for a workhorse” what sort of crap is that? why would you not want quality in a work ute? you probably spend more time in it than your family car and in some cases they are the family car. Why do people think work utes have to be second rate? Hopefully the new Mazda and Ford will signal a change of standards in the ute class.
I for one am sick and tired of how old the chassis, design and safety equipment levels are in these workhorses. I love the practicality of the Dual Cab for camping with my family.
As a private buyer why can’t these utes have standard features such as 6 airbags, abs(ebd), esp I can buy a brand new $20,000 passenger car with 6 or more airbags, abs (ebd), esp. I want safety for my family. And while there at it perhaps a decent sound system, some comforatble seating and cruise control as standard for f sake.
I have just purchased a D-Max and I cannot fault this thing in anyway. Regardless of what I do in it or to it, it just keeps on going.

I with you mate, I purchased a D-Max in Jan this year and have just clock 10,000k, My wife and I have had more fun in this 4WD then any other vechicle we have owned. I cannot fault the D-max in anyway.
We have always had the Hilux 4×4 twin cab, and never been able to fault it. In the process of purchasing a caravan and need 3 ton towing capacity, which even the new Hilux doesn’t have. We are looking at the D Max and would love some extra insite.

Can anyone shed some light on service costs,Lt per 100km and any faults they may be aware of. looking to purchase, not Isuzu inparticular but it’s up there at this point. Any detail on how they stack up against Mazda, Ford, Nissan or Toyota.
Would like to know if anyone has pulled a 21ft caravan with the D Max. Can they do it ok?
yes Pat they sure can, we have a Royal Flair 21ft, sometimes you have too check it’s still there, loves the mountains, BUT DON’T TOW IN 5TH GEAR
Yeah! got a 23ft jayco the d max pulls ok with the auto box even over mt hotham to malacoota avgeraged 16.9ltr per 100.
I am looking at towing a double horse float with a ute. The Hilux is way out of my price range and I am not too fussed by the egg-shaped Triton. Anyone out there using a 4×4 Dmax for towing, and can you comment on handling with standard suspension? I am told to avoid Navara, Ranger and Mazda. Is this good advice? Looking forward to hearing some wisdom.

Has anyone had a dmax whith high ks say 180 + how is the long term reliability i currently high a vw with 94000 on it and have to get rid of it before it sends me broke
This car is not of the quality of the Triton. It says it has a 3 tonne towing capacity. Maybe it has but that is at about 60kph. The inside is cheap without any extras. The tray is tiny and is good for mum to do the shopping. Avoid this car.
I have A D Max LSM dual cab 5 speed manual and intend to pull a !( ft 2.7 tonne ATM Caravan (dual axle), Any one got what fuel economy am I likely to get.
you wrote nothing wrong about D-max, actually it’s all good and you gave only 2.5 stars??? Toyota asked you to do that??? If d-max has 2.5 starts then Hilux 1.5 stars.
Isuzu Manufacturer the Colorado and the Isuzu. GM no longer own any part of Isuzu and so Holden lost the naming rights as the Isuzu Rodeo is sold overseas. All the while GM had stakes in Isuzu , Holden has sole rights to imports. Now Isuzu are allowed free rein here so they are sold as competitors. So Holden renamed their vehicle the Colorado. It is still built by Isuzu.

VIN that starts with ML-MR are from Thailand. Just like the Hilux…
Colorado is MM, D-Max is MP so i’m assuming they are not made in the same factory.
and Ranger starts with MN???? Sorry It was my understanding that the Colarado and Dmax (at this point are side by side builds for Aust,, the US Colorado and the future AUst ones will be Mexico
