GM launches online Camaro creator
March 18, 2009 by George Skentzos
While GM gets under way fulfilling its production demand for more than 14,000 pre-orders of the new Chevrolet Camaro, customers can help out with a brilliant new car-creator launched on the web.
For the first time, buyers and dreamers alike can piece together their very own virtual Camaro with a seemingly infinite number of customisable options.
To begin, visitors can select from one of the five Camaro variants on offer, ranging from the US$22,995 Camaro LS to the flagship US$34,180 Camaro 2SS.
Designers have certainly chosen a superb colour palette for the new Camaro, with highlights including Aqua Blue Metallic, Rally Yellow and a personal favourite – Inferno Orange Metallic.
Although it really starts to get interesting when you come to the options, where customers are presented with an overwhelming choice for exterior enhancements, stripe packages and wheel combinations.
Also, if you have enough time – let’s face it, you probably do – it is also worth clicking over to the ‘Compare’ page where GM has pit the new Camaro against some obvious and some less likely competitors based on performance, specifications and price.
It really is such a shame we may never see the Australian-developed Camaro sold on home soil.

Twist the knife GM, twist the knife. Yankee bastards!
Still looks like too late, too crude, too American to have a serious impact on the new market of 2010 and beyond. Shelf life of about 6 months I predict. (If GM makes it to the launch date that is).
I like it! Pity won’t get to Oz…
Who ever was responsible for naming the models needs to be taken out the back of the factory and shot!!! Seriously 1SS, 2SS, 1LT, 2LT, and then they offer the Rally Sport Pack on the Super Sport- That makes no sense the Super Sport (SS) should be the top spec model if any thing RS should be the 1SS and 2SS should be just called the SS. Typical American Retards. Im glad that theyre not bringing it here, Id sooner see another Monaro. On a lighter note I do love the retro guages.
Yet they are making a Limited run of RHD Camaros excluisively for the UK but that probably won’t be until they have met the 15-20;000 advanced orders or the immediate post-release demand.
However; if it did come to Oz I suspect Holden would either sell it as a pestige perfromance car -like they were going to with the Caddie-yuck; and retain the Chevy Camaro badges or turn it into [what would be] the 4th Generation Monaro.
^^^^No, you can’t change the Camaro into a Monaro it’s just not right!
