The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG has been caught camouflage-free while filming a commercial in The Netherlands.
Distinguishing itself from the S63 AMG revealed back in July, the S65 AMG gains silver accents around the central and side front air intakes and rear diffuser, silver mesh on the front bumper, a chrome boot lid strip and different multi-spoke alloy wheels.
More obvious giveaways are also the ‘V12 BITURBO’ badges on its front fenders and rear ‘S65 AMG’ badge.
The luxury performance model is expected to be powered by a heavily upgraded version of the outgoing model’s 463kW/1000Nm twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12.
The sixth-generation S65 AMG is also likely to feature less weight, stop-start technology and the seven-speed automatic gearbox found in the SL65, all aimed at helping to improve fuel economy and vehicle dynamics.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has already confirmed the new S65 AMG will come to our shores, however, it will be in coupe form only, with the local division passing on the sedan variant.
The Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe appears bound for a November debut at the Los Angeles auto show before arriving locally later in 2014. This will follow the arrival of the S600 long-wheelbase sedan – the first model to house the reworked V12 unit – in the second quarter of next year.
The S65 AMG – a model that in its current state commands a $498,700 price tag – is expected to join the S500 Plug-in Hybrid and S600 at the Frankfurt motor show on September 10.
