Daimler not interested in Opel, SAAB or Volvo

Daimler last night reaffirmed to the press that it has “no interest” in acquiring Opel, SAAB or Volvo.
Although the purchase could immediately give Daimler a sizable share of the market, management has stated quite bluntly that the decision is final.
“A takeover of Opel is not on the agenda. That also goes for Volvo or SAAB,” Daimler management board member Thomas Weber said.
General Motors is looking for new investors for its European brands Opel and SAAB as it struggles through the economic crisis while Ford is also seeking to sell off Volvo.

Just a question, but can anyone actually point out where Ford (or Mullaly himself) have actually said they are “ACTIVELY” seeking to sell Volvo??
I keep hearing this around the traps but everything I have seen from Ford regarding this (including the submission to the Swedish Government) has stated that they are reviewing all aspects of the company. From restructuring to even a possible sale. I know there were rumours of Geely buying them but they’ve got no money either.
I ask genuinely, not as a rebuff to the story.
I doubt anyone will buy these brands. The global over-capacity in car manufacturing is now running at almost 50% and getting worse by the month. The weak will collapse to remove that over-capacity. Might as well start with Opel, Saab (already in insolvency) and Volvo (global sales of Volvo cars have fallen around 50% in recent months).

Frontman.. I was wondering a similar thing but in relation to Opel.
Because in an announcement made during the US Congress Hearing to determine whether or not they would approve the Bailout package.. GM mentioned the car companies that they would keep and those that they would sell off.. Opel was one of the companies that they said they would be Holding onto along with Chevy and Holden.
Not to mention the fact that immediately after the Bailout was approved GM approved new car projects for both Holden and Opel.. now why would they do that if they were thinking of off loading them a couple of months later?
The good thing though is that Saab have finally completed their new XWD models which means that Holden and Opel could possibly utilise the [Haldex] systems in their cars before GM dump Saab
