2010 Hyundai ix35 crossover spied

Soon to be displayed at the Geneva motor show in concept-guise as the HED-6, our photographers have snapped new images of the successor to the current Hyundai Tucson in northern Sweden.

Following the brand’s latest naming technique, the new model is expected to be called the Hyundai ix35 when it is officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.

Equipped with Hyundai / Kia’s newly developed start-stop-automatic ISG system, the new crossover will be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine developing 130kW.

Hyundai’s new six-speed automatic transmission will deliver power to all four wheels while the recently revealed R-diesel power plant will also be featured in the range, delivering 137kW and 400Nm.

While the prototype in these images is well camouflaged, the final production model will somewhat resemble the HED-6 although with a far more traditional take on the styling in what Hyundai is calling an “urban nomad”.
