2010 Kia Sorento sneak peak
February 19, 2009 by Matt Brogan
The 2010 Kia Sorento, which is to be unveiled at April’s Seoul Motor Show, will be larger than the current model and feature a third row seat.
Utilising Hyundai’s Santa Fe platform, the new Sorento will feature a Theta II, 2.4-litre, four-cylinder engine set to develop 126kW and 230Nm in the base model with the option of a 204kW, 3.8-litre V6 in the higher specced vehicle. Both models will be mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.
With cleaner, less boxy lines than the existing model, the car appears more modern and is set to feature Kia’s new signature grille and integrated dual exhaust outlets.
The new Sorento will begin production in November this year with sales following shortly thereafter.

I hope they keep the towing capacity @ 2,800kg, the biggest selling point on this car.
And I hear they will drop the ladder rack chassis?
Isn’t this going to get a 2.2L Diesel engine said to develop close to 150kw as well?
It reminds me a bit of an Escalade. The Americans will love it, or maybe not. The Volt gets released in 2010 and that might be enough to change every Americans mind. They seem very suggestible.
Yes, this car will come with R engine (2.2lt diesel) and also LPG version will be available in Korea. But not sure if kia is going to bring thoses engines to here.
Looks like a stylish Toyota or a lexus, Korean cars are looking better nowadays. Don’t think it should have a 2.4 litre engine, might be underpowered for a mid-size SUV. Perhaps the 2.7 litre V6 from the Sportage flagship as standard?
