2008 Mitsubshi Evo X Pricing Speculation
A source at Mitsubishi has informed CarAdvice of some unfortunate news. The upcoming poor mans supercar, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X (pictured below) may no longer be for the poor. Sources have told CarAdvice the Evo X will go on sale for around $75-80k.

The current Evo IX model (which is flying out Mitsubishi dealers) is priced at $57,000. Whilst a few in the industry expected a price hike, a $20,000 price hike caught us a little off-gaurd.
At this stage, this is merely a credible rumour. It seems that both Subaru and Mitsubishi are waiting for the other to announce pricing. Subaru recently made reference to the new STi as
It (STi) will represent outstanding value - making ultimate performance accessible to consumers for less than $100,000.
From what we can gather then, both the STi and the Evo are set for a massive price hike! While we are on the subject of rumours, the source also informed Car Advice the Evo X will arrive around November disputing previous claims made by Mitsubishi of a February launch!

$80k for a Mitsu? LOL
Tell them they are dreaming…..
Could NOT care if it gets to 100km/h in 4s or 12s Q/M, its WAY to much for a Lancer, dog_ugly WRK will have the last laugh!!

If the pricing runours are true - then Mitsu will effectively kill off EVO X sales for anyone other than wealthy folks who will use them a few times a year for track day fun.
A very bad decision for the brand - but one that will be wlecomed by lessor hot hatch Gods under $45K.

You are a complete joke you know that? 80k for a Lancer. First of all, it’s unconfirmed you tosser. Second of all, there is a lot of engineering and the interior kills so many other cars interiors and it can be compared to that of an RX-8. Too much for a Lancer? Mitsubishi made and effort with the Lancer to put it in a higher market. The standard Lancer gets 7 airbags. The Evo gets that, awesome seats, aesome safety, Rockford Fosgate sound system, these are not features you would expect on the current Lancer. This is an extire new type of car and packs so many more features than you bomadore, kills it in handling and performance and won’t be falling apart in five years.

Seriously, you don’t have a go at HSV for pricing their deaded pushrod bricks at that price and they are not rumours. Typical Aussie bogan you are. At least Mitsubishi has a heritage in real performance cars.

I am making the perception your a WRC cocktard Alicia. People usually say that when I show them a picture of a French Blue Evo VIII. They say, “Oh,it’s a WRX: sigh”. I’m like no it’s an EVO VIII MR. Then they say, “but aren’t WRX’s blue?” I am guessing you know nothing about this car or amy previous model, so I am not going to flame you as you ahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Lancer_Evolutionre new to this site. Radiator is in the same place as most front engine cars, the Front Mount InterCooler (FMIC) however is the bit you can see below the front bar/badge area.
It still looks way better than the latest Rex.

I still don’t understand why people are not giving this car the praise it deserves. You are saying it looks like a Lancer. There are rules in the WRC that states it has to be based on a 4 door family car (ie. the lancer) cocktard. What I really don’t uderstand, you are saying that the unlikely unconfirmed price is expensive, when this is a relaible, over-engineered, road going rally car. It is also the best handling car int he world and would not only smash HSV GTS’s around corners but also in straight line but is also happy to take on a flurry of supercars and with a fairly classy interior and exterior I would rather it over the BMW M3 now. Yes, an M3, the car I dreamed of compared to an Evo VIII about 3 years ago.
(Report)
April 17th, 2007 at 7:24 pm
I agree with Damo’s post above….
I always dreamed of owning an M3, but since spotting this new Evo10, I can’t wait for it to be released and if it delivers as stated on all the reports I’m buying, forget the 100k more expensive M3!
I’ve always admired the performance and handling prowess of the Evo’s but looks wise, they just didn’t do it for me, ie: until now, this all new model looks fantastic and has a far improved interior as well and of course it steps up the ante with performance and handling too….
It’s going to probably be the best handling, best cornering car ever made !
I think the price tag is justified, comparably speaking for what you get.
Can’t wait to check it out in the metal.

I seriously doubt it will be too much different to the current pricing.
Take a look at the pricing for the *released* base lancer in the US at www.projectlancer.com and you will see they are similar to what the old model was priced at. using that as a yardstick I think we can safely assume the Evo will be much the same.

however you have to remember the new Evo has technologies such as DSG which may increase the price

DSG or SMG whichever they decide to adopt - hopefully SMG - will be an option, so with the basic stick shift manual, the price will be lower.

They must be nuts. Both of them ( Subaru and Mitsubishi). I mean comon, 70K!!!
If they are going to go that high, I might as well get the new 2008 Nissan Skyline for the same price.
But hey look, I am sure it’s a rumor. Mitsubishi is in the toilet with low sales and they can’t afford to screw this up.
And Subaru. They made the car so ugly, I don’t even think I could but it for 20K.
I love the EVO X. But not for 70K. That’s ridiculous.

April 30th, 2007 at 10:08 pm
If you’re referring to the new r35 GTR, I highly doubt it will be in the 70k mark. You can still find the r34 v spec -in mint con- for about 80 to 100k. Nissan will not sell it at such a understated price. IF the do sell the new GTR for under 80k, i’m sure all the young rich kids would rather buy an Nissan than a Mitsubishi.
Damo… I haven’t had the pleasure of driving the later editions of the EVO 8 or 9 but the earlier models (EVO 5 and 6)were sloppy in terms of handling. Who knows? Maybe
their lastest edition could be their best.

The new Gt-R is copied off a porsche anyway. They used a 06 911 turbo as a testing and design benchmark at nurburgring in germany, look at it and a 911 turbo they look the same, real original that is! bloody japs. can hardly see how a V6 will replace the RB series too.
evo 10 looks pretty good and im sure will deliver the goods as always. gotta wonder what the resale is like on them though? they bring out a new evo every month

I have to agree with Lisa and say that 13LAZE your way off target with your presumptions about the pricing on the new upcoming R35 GTR (I asuume your talking about this variant and not a normal skyline)
It’ll be priced at well over 100k, as it will be a match and in direct competition with the 911 twin turbo AWD Porsche…
Remember past model Evo’s (Mk8 for eg.)have cost more than 70k, this new Mk10 will be way better than an 8.
Like I’ve stated before, if you do a comparison of other cars in the same performance bracket, except for the dog ugly wrx, what else is there for a similar price…
All things considered, the lower the price, of course the better, but even at 70k, I think it’s still worth every penny (ie comparatively speaking), if that means they’ll be less of them around, well for those who do get one, this is a good thing, both in terms of exclusivity and future re-sale value.
(Report)
May 2nd, 2007 at 11:31 pm
Wraith the reason older Evo models cost so much is because they were restricted import or some such - about 100 a year? Evo 9 has no such restrictions, hence the lower price.
Regarding the dealership telling Eric that it was $70k well I’m surprised they even knew the Evo X was coming out. Dealerships and car salesmen know less than you or I do.

Wayne your a flipping BOGAN!!! Come on let’s listen to Wayna the VIB BAHAHHAHAHAHAH LOL LMAO Seriously, I would pay 80k for that sort of car because people pay that for an HSV GTS which is a far more unadvanced car and has a lesser warranty, worse interior and everything else. This is only speculation on the price and it is only expected to be 65k, if people don’t like that they can get a ralliart lancer or a crappy WRX DOG!!
(Report)
September 24th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
First and foremost both GSR and Ralliart EVO X are earmarked for Australia. Secondly, they are going to be priced at or around current EVO 9 pricing, so I dont know where the rumors or pricing came from, but its not the indication given to us by MMAL.
Thirdly, we have already taken orders on the EVO X.
GSR will be at or around the 40K + ORC’s AUD mark, and the EVO X will be in the high 50’s PLUS ORC’s
First’s for EVO in Australia will be 7 airbags inccluding the new knee bag, 18″ wheels, bilsteins, eibachs, both manual and auto transmissions. Update’s on the AWD and stability system are in the mix too, as is an upmarket interior. The base donor car is 50% more rigid, and 56% stiffer than the pervious CH lancer, so it should be almost surgical in its handling characteristics. The car is 60mm longer and 65mm wider, with a wider track and the wheelbase is larger too. MIVEC 3 is also making its debut, and other cool features like blue tooth conectivity are earmarked for Australian shores.
As for its competition? Well, there isnt much that gets near it unless you spend 2-3 times more money.
Given the styling of the new impreza, I think this is Mitsubishi’s time in the spotlight, and add to that the 5 year 160,000 warranty, and 10 years on drivetrain, reliabililty wont be an issue either.

Hey Damo, you sound like a bit of a Bogan yourself.
I mean prefering an EVO over an M3? A turbo lancer over a german engineering master piece?
You see if you actually get round to driving either, you’ll notice that the BMW is built like A BRICK SHIT house. The doors have a weight to them that is unmatched, the line up of all panels on the car etc is amazing.
The evo will not outperform it anyway. BUt try not to take the BOGAN aapproach of thinking faster = better - especially when its not faster?
I dont need to say anymore, if you have owned both of these cars at some point or at least driven them AND have a brain, you know the M3 is in a different league.
