Porsche has announced slower sales in the wake of the global economic downturn with 2008 figures down by 27.3 per cent or 34,000 units.

Revenue also fell by 14.3 percent during the August to January period, totalling a tumble of roughly $3 billion euros (A$6.08 billion).

Cayenne models also saw a decline is sales of up to 20 per cent, but still managed a rather healthy 16,600 units, which is considerable given an overall trend away from large SUVs.

Porsche is hoping that the release of its new volume selling Boxster model (pictured above) will see sales pick up again once the vehicle is available for global consumption.
