Peugeot 2008: urban crossover officially revealed

The Peugeot 2008 compact SUV has been officially revealed ahead of its world debut at the Geneva motor show in March.

Coming just hours after the first images of the crossover leaked, the French manufacturer has revealed official shots and details of the new Peugeot 2008 that it says is aimed at a new generation of emerging customers who “feed on dynamism”.

Sharing the same platform as the Peugeot 208 and measuring in at 4160mm long, the 2008 is just 180mm shorter than the Mitsubishi ASX-based Peugeot 4008 and sports black bumpers and side skirts with stainless steel highlights, LED daytime running lights and tail-lights, a panoramic roof, and 17-inch matt finish wheels.

Peugeot says the 2008 is equally at ease in town or on the open road, combining the driving characteristics of a hatchback with the strength of an SUV.

To be produced in France, China and Brazil, the Peugeot 2008 will reach Australian shores in October/November.

Currently Peugeot Australia offers the 4008 SUV and 3008 crossover, starting at $28,990 and $36,490 respectively. Peugeot Australia’s Jaedene Hudson told CarAdvice that while the $34,990 4007 is also currently offered, it is already in runout and will not be renewed once all cars are sold.
