Video: BMW X5 M SUV prototype teaser

The brand had previously ignored the idea of an M variant for the X5 and X6 models; however the current climate for performance SUVs has proved far too alluring.

The new BMW X5 M will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine which should develop more power than the current V10 engines in the M5 and M6 - potentially as high as 373kW and 700Nm.

In addition, the X5 M will also boast trademark M exterior features such as pumped guards, sports bodykit and quad oval exhaust pipes.
