While the rest of the world is going broke, one guy in the Middle East doesn’t seem to be suffering from quite the same fate with more than enough cash left over to plate his new Mercedes-Benz in white gold.

Though hardly practical due to the obvious weight addition, you’ve got to admit, it looks the goods and we guess if you have this sort of cash, then why not!

That car just looks awesome! Always thought the SLR looked a tad cheap, don’t know why, but in it’s gold-plated guise it looks stunning!

i remember i’ve seen a Mercedes fully covered with diamonds that also belongs to someone from middle east. These guys are waaaay too rich and that’s just because they control the price for petrol.

why would you do it anyway? Looks crap, you can roast in it, and it weighs one ton more… make it in carbon fibre or kevlar to be different, no? Or why didn’t he buy a Ferrari or a Lambo, instead?

The Benz has actually been sprayed with activated Silver, to achieve a reflective Chrome look and doesn’t add to its weight. He could have chosen a series of final reflective colours, I just find the Chrome colour frankly boring & why I have an electroplating business where I Gold Plate among other things Chrome & Stainless steel Car Accessories & Trims, with 24Karat Gold. white gold is a mixture of platinum and whitish gold, hence giving it that chromish colour.

its plate number is 3049, if this is really gold, why put four digit number plate, whre in abu dhabi, a four digit number plate is not that expensive, Maktoums and the al nahyans has 1 digit number plate which cost hundred thousands, if not millions.

Visit Abu Dhabi before you doubt the extent of money spent here in designing and upgrading cars. We also have events dealing only with cars in our yearly motorshows. You can see all customized cars during these shows in ADNEC. It is the exhibition center of the capital Abu Dhabi. Don’t hate just because you cannot afford it. I agree it is impractical Arabs love luxurious things even during BCE. You will be amazed that all ferrari cars here, 6/8 door hummers, jaguars and Bugatti are just parked somewhere. They take more good care of the vintage cars than the luxurious one. this is because they are bringing the world in the UAE. There’s nothing wrong with it if you can afford it. They don’t spend it for themselves also. They have various charities (with criticisms) and they give the people EVERYTHING they need. This car is a symbol of purchasing capacity of Abu Dhabi not of luxury alone.
