The Maserati GranCabrio MC Stradale has been revealed ahead of this week’s 2012 Paris motor show, ending strong rumours the Italian manufacturer would unveil a concept of its planned Porsche 911-fighting sports car.

The news will come as disappointment to fans of the Trident badge looking forward to seeing the first public sign of the high-performance, mid-engined sports car that would be based on the Alfa Romeo 4C.

Following in the footsteps of the GrandTurismo MC Stradale, expect this convertible GranCabrio version to get the same 331kW/510Nm 4.7-litre V8 under its bonnet.

The Maserati GranCabrio MC Stradale features a new front bumper, lighter alloy wheels, firmer suspension, MC race Shift electro-actuated transmission and high-performance exhaust system.

CarAdvice will be reporting live from Paris when the doors open on September 27.

I’m no fan of drop tops but that is one sexy car.  All the better to enjoy that delicious engine note too.

I have a feeling this car would never get tagged a “Hairdressers” car and if it ever was, where do I sign up to become a hairdresser?
    Absolutely stunning car!

Dream car.  Maserati is the sexiest brand, I was hoping there would be a new smaller “entry level” model arriving, but alas I’ll have to admire from a distance.  Although If I won lotto I think the Grancabrio Sport would more than suffice (youtube Evo review by Harry Metcalf you will fall in love).  The Stradale has the robotised manual I believe, and I think its a little too intense for a convertible.   I believe the Kubang is their priority then maybe the two seater spyder will follow.
