More horsepower for FPV
November 11, 2008 by Matt Brogan
In the spirit of the Spring Carnival, two of Australia’s leading jockeys, Corey Brown and Nash Rawiller, were appointed as ambassadors to FPV for the duration of the event.
Brown, who missed taking this year’s Melbourne Cup by just a centimetre, has been commuting between his Mornington Peninsula base and Flemington in a brand new FG series FPV GT-P and was understandably reluctant to give it back at the end of the carnival.
“Mate these things are amazing, I reckon I’ll trade in the X5 for this. They’ve got a great grunt to them, but drive beautifully around town. It’s a shame I didn’t have the same sort of power on tap during the Cup!” Brown joked.
Nash Rawiller also sampled a taste of FPV’s latest offerings during the carnival, driving both the F6 and GT.
“Well I’d be stumped if I had to pick just one, they’re both such awesome machines. The F6 handles beautifully and has this brutal acceleration when you call for it that just keeps coming on. Whereas the GT with the V8 has the mambo turned on permanently. I suppose it’s a similar difference between riding a sprinter and stayer,” he said.
In the past month alone, Rawiller and Brown have ridden over twenty winners between them, ranking the pair among Australia’s elite jockeys with their winning ways look set to continue across the summer.
CarAdvice will have a full review of the FPV F6 310 in a couple of weeks.

These guys are used to 1 horsepower.
Anything with more would feel fast…….
Did th GT and F6 come with booster seats for the Jockeys…….
Ahh shes a good horse and she will go all day !!!
Falcon the great Australian road car.
Well I hope he does trade in his X5. Anybody who would prefer a fast ford to a BMW doesn’t deserve to own a BMW. I think the problem with cars like this (inc. HSV) is that they have no taste what so ever. They’re all shouty body kits and bright lary colours. The M3 is taste full (in certain configurations) and the Audi RS4 is. So is the C63 and alot of others (not the IS F). FPVs and HSVs are never understated. Its like that thing that an M3 can only be cool if you get it de-badged and in an understated colour. Theses cars literally say FPV all over them and its quite tacky. As for the spoilers – oh dear.
Completely agree with you on the ‘over-the-top’ nature of FPV/HSV cars Alex, but a BMW X5 isn’t exactly the last word in good taste subtlety either.
They could always strap a saddle to the roof and use a long rope tied to the steering wheel as ‘reigns’. Kind of like in that Mr Bean episode.
Alex,
I prefer subtle to ‘over the top’, however the C63 isn’t exactly subtle either with its bodywork.
You’re kidding Alex! Try comparing apples with apples you drongo… you just sound like a knob trying to stage arguments like that.
BTW: have you driven the new GT & F6? – I bet not.
Another post, another Eurosnob regurgiting the same ole’ ‘argument’, it is getting quite tedious.
I bet Alex have neither driven any of the ‘tasteful’ cars that he loves so dearly nor the ‘tacky’ aussies.
How about we just appreciate the fact that both Ford & Holden are able to develop and sell these amazing machines that the average bloke can enjoy? Not everyone can afford, or indeed want an M3, RS4 or C63.
Awww Alex – c0cked up there a bit dude. The HSV and FPV’s are just pure Australian character. Not to all tastes but proven to be better than much of the Yank tosh. Having watched Top Gear series 12 Ep 2 with Hammond Clarkson and May driving around in lovely big motors (Corvette, Dodge thingy and a Caddy) i’m sold. Pity fuel is petrol is AU$2.32/litre in the motherland.
