Honda CR-V Special Edition arrives
The CarAdvice team have road tested Honda’s popular CR-V a couple of times now, both on its lonesome as well as against its rivals, and as a whole, we have been rather impressed by the vehicle’s overall drive, dynamics and appeal.
To further this appeal, Honda have today announced a Special Edition CR-V to better the value offered on what’s already a very well packaged car by some $3,000.
The Special Edition CR-V, which is based on the entry-level or base model, picks up alloy wheels, reverse parking sensors, roof racks and fog lamps, all for just $1000 more than the standard price.
Available with a five-speed manual transmission from $32,990 or an automatic transmission from $34,990 the Special Edition CR-V is in showrooms from today.

It’s very appealing, but its off-road capability sucks (Yes, I’m one of those 1% who takes their soft-roader off road). And the exterior image is meh. Though I really like its interior!

Tim, agree with you 100%. The ‘Real time’ 4×4 mode is a joke.
I had a CRV which I traded in for a Kia Sorento Diesel. Don’t miss the Honda one little bit (we have 4 Honda’s in our family, and these will be our last). The only thing Honda had going for them was reliability. Guess what, the Koreans have caught up, and offer better bang for buck. Honda on the other hand…Less cars being made in Japan, more being made in Thailand…

Zool, so how do you find the Sorento? I imagine the interior quality would be a step down from the Hondas? I’ve never actually gone to check one out but others on this site keep talking about how good the Koreans are getting.
Cheers.

G’Day LH
The quality of the plastics in the Sorento is right up there…The layout of the dash is a little conservative & boring, but it’s functional at the same time. The Diesel is a pearler of an engine, however the suspension is pretty lame. Aftermarket gear is available to fix the suspension.
Go check one out for a laugh. I think you’ll be surprised as hell by how well built these things have become. I was originally in the market for a Prado/Pajero but changed my mind when I saw a Sorento in the flesh.
